Ava is 18 months old and still has a bottle (200mls) before bed. When should I drop the bottle altogether?

Anytime! If you want to get rid of it, then just do it. I don't like bottles past 1 (personal choice) so we got rid of it ASAP, but if you're happy with it, just keep it Sorry probably not much help!

When Emily was down to a bottle before bed she decided herself at around 17 months she wasn't interested in it anymore. She kept throwing it on the ground, so it was then we just dropped it altogether, and moved her milk to a bit earlier and out of a sippy instead. That lasted a couple of months until she decided herself again she didn't want that anymore either, so now she doesn't have any milk before bed. sometimes it's just easier to let them guide you.

If she's happy having her bottle before bed then I'd say leave be if you're happy with it too. If she's showing signs she's not interested in it anymore, like my Emily did, then maybe look at dropping the bottle.

my 22 month old has just started dropping his bedtime one. we offer it but he only drinks a little bit now. we kept it over summer as he hardly drinks otherwise but there's no harm in them having it well over 2 or dropping it after 18 months. they say its an issue if milk is interfering with food.

Ha ha, my mother was horrified - the gremlins were still having bottles at 3 . She is really anti bottles full stop and she was forever going on about them, in fact she pretty much forceably weaned them when I was there at Xmas by telling them that Santa took their bottles!

Until recently Hannah has had two a day.
She still asks for a drink of milk at morning tea time, but prefers it out of a cup now (usually her straw cup).
Bed time is still in a bottle though, she won't have a bar of it in a cup.
For her, as others have said, it's a sleep cue and it relaxes her.
Doesn't bother me at all, Im guided by her.

So to me, it's normal

Plunket and peads say to get rid of bottles at 12 months, and definitely by 18months (something to do with teeth and speech development I think).
I moved Jakes bottle to a cup during the day at 14months, and gradually changed his bottle to a cup at 18months. He still has a cup of milk before bed (but doesn't always drink it all now) and a cup with or after lunch most days when we're at home.
