So finally my little guy is eating my cooking, but I'm running out of ideas for meals. I like to use fresh ingredients (as opposed to packet stuff) and pretty much cook everything from scratch.

So what do you feed your little ones?

Here's some of my more successful dishes:

Lunch:
Muffin splits with avocado
Anything with avocado
Cheese and tomato toasties
Homemade pizza

Dinner:
Tuna and sweetcorn bake
Chicken risotto
Pork and tomato casserole
Lamb chop with baked vegies
Baked bean and potato bake

Great ideas.

Some things R has for lunch or dinner:

I make quiche and put whatever veges I have in it
Poached eggs on toast
Toasted sandwiches (eg spag & cheese)
Macaroni cheese with ham or chopped up corned beef
Roast beef & veges
Most veges either boiled plain or roasted


My mind has gone blank .... can't think of what else at the moment!

Lunch:
Boiled eggs
Mini corn fritters
Spaghetti pies
Savoury muffins
Soup with toast fingers

Dinner:
Beef stirfry w fat udon noodles - big fave!
Fried Rice
Stew w mashed potatoes
Individual mince and potato-topped pies
Any type of pasta but especially pumpkin fettucine, chicken alfredo and bacon carbonara
Spag bol
Homemade pizza always goes down well
Fresh fish fried with lemon and homemade wedges

I make everything from scratch too. I find the best way to get Jake eating a variety is to dish up one mouthful of each thing onto his plate (ETA as opposed to loading up his plate and saying ok have one spoonful) and once hes eaten everything he can have seconds of what he liked. Its worked great and hes discovered he loves lemon fried fish, avocado (again coz he went off it for a bit), corn, etc. Have a look for the fat udon noodles at the supermarket, they're fast and easy and sooo popular with little fingers!

Megan willl usually have a honey sandiwch and marmite sandwich and slice of cheese (from our block of cheese) and some kiwifruit...or else wil be some fish fingers and scrambled eggs that lunch

dinner she eats whatever we eat

My DS Stacey has just started refusing to eat anything other than meat. It's horrible but for the past 2 weeks meat it is. He munches away happily but I haven't been able to get a vege, fruit, pasta or even bread in him - it's driving me crazy. He used to literally eat everything.
Do you think it's just a phase? Yesterday I smeared avocado on the chicken pieces and tried scraping it off with his spoon then started crying.

Frittata is a new hit here, I just beat a few eggs, puts some peas carrots and corn in and boil some spud and add chunks of that too with some cheese, garlic and herbs.

Pasta bake of any kind will always get eaten.

I would say it is just a phase..I dont know how old Stacey is but I think around 18 months to 2 years and even older they go through phases of only eating a few things.

best thing is (and I know it can be hard not to) ignore the behaviour....they are just seeing how far they can push us.

I would just keep offering fruits and veges and if he doesn't eat them don't say anything and take the plate away. and when eating them yourself exaggerate how yummy they are.

Thats a pain Tui89 - we just went through a phase where any meat except luncheon was poison He also decided he wasn't going to eat any veges except potato, no fruit at all and plastic cheese constantly especially after he discovered how to climb up the fridge shelves to reach it!!
A fridge lock and only getting what mummy chose for each meal soon dealt with that though. I'd give him whatever we were having for breakfast and if he didn't want it then it sat there til morning tea when I'd throw it out and put out whatever snack I decided on and so on til bedtime. The food was always available and there was always a little bit of something he'd eat (like a slice of luncheon) along with apple slices, crackers, etc. With dinner, like I said in my earlier post, he gets a mouthful on his plate of everything and once thats all gone he can choose what seconds he wants out of that.
Had him eating properly within a fortnight

Yum great ideas!

I made macaroni cheese and sneaked some spinach into the sauce, went down a treat!

Frittata sounds like a go for tonight, I've made him omelete before with bacon, cheese and onions and he loved it. I've got some chicken, veges, and kumara to go in it.

I think I might have to write some of these ideas down

My daughter is a fussy eater as opposed to her younger sister who will eat anything and I'm always running out of ideas of what to feed her.

At lunchtime she will usually have

scrambled eggs on toast

cocktail sausages

banana or some other fruit

rice crackers and raisins

toasted sandwhiches

yoghurt

Dinner is always a diificult time but she loves chicken and pasta and stirfry and chicken noodle soup which has been a life saver many times when she is being fussy! Hopefully with a few more ideas to try that won't be a problem anymore

I find that some quick and easy dinners when I am in a rush are scrambled eggs with some veggies such as spinach, bits of capsicum, tomato etc. chucked in, or i just cook a bit of pasta and again, throw some quick veg and cheese in it, and mix a bit of mayo or ketchup through for some flavour.
Maybe won't make it into 'gourmet cooking for your toddler' but they are great little lifesavers when you are busy! good luck
