My almost 2 year old has been having haircuts since he was 6 months old.  He needs one every four weeks but lately can't stand it!  It's now at the point where Mummy and Daddy go with him to try to appease him or hold him still but short of a head lock (which makes access to his hair tricky!) I'm at a loss.

Tried clippers, tried scissors - all bad :(

We tried cutting it at home but that's no better.  HELP!  He's getting a bit of a mullet now.

How about playing hairdresser at home? Getting him to put a towel around your shoulders, have a mirror there - and he can brush or comb your hair. Then you swap over. Then talk about how if he's quiet and still he gets a special treat - and you could give him a pretend lollipop (I don't know if he'd understand that part). Lots of play and talking about hairdressers, going to watch other people get their hair cut, walking past hairdressers and peeking in - talking about how everyone's sitting still and quiet and looking at themselves in the mirror. There must be books around about going to the hairdresser too, that would probably help. Oh and if he has a doll he could play hairdresser with that too.

We have the same problem, Jake has been having his haircut since 6 months, we left it a bit longer one time and now (almost 2 also) he is a nightmare. After one bad session we ended up resorting to food! The hairdresser said all the kids of that age are given snacks / treats to get them to sit still. So he sat there as long as his pack of twisties lasted (got most of it cut but the layers aren't really done) and we will have to go back to get it done again soon. So I can't really help ... unless you want to resort to treats too!!

I've always done Daniels cause I think I do a better job than the hairdresser and I just put him in his highchair so hes strapped in and can't escape and no one has to hold him, put his dinner in front of him and chop it while he eats and watchs disney channel

thats a good idea Stacey!

Tom was fantastic the first time at 15 months and since then has gotten progressively worse. Even the lollipop bribe..or even better the prune bribe (LOL) arent working. You'd think there were nerve endings in his hair! As such he got a shocking cut done last time and will need another soon.
