Hi there,
I am not a regular poster on this board (usually on Jan 09) but was hoping to pick your brains......... My little man is almost 2 and for the last year, maybe once a week, he has woken up in the night and laid there chatting. He'll chat to his bears, sing, shout and laugh - which is all very cute but he is actually very loud and it goes on for 2 hours keeping us all awake until he falls asleep. One night last week he managed to keep going all night from 10:30pm. He doesn't cry and isn't distressed. He doesn't wake at the same time each time either. He has had his same bath and bed routine, that we stick to every night, since he was a newborn, he goes down quite happily and to sleep quickly and he has a good 1.5hr nap during the day. At first, on the advice of Plunket, we tried ignoring it as a phase - clearly its not! We have tried settling him back to sleep, but it doesn't work. We tried working out if he's too hot or too cold, whether its because of teething etc etc but can't find a remedy it! Has anyone else experienced this - any mum that I have spoken to about this has looked at me like I am nuts! Any suggestions of what it could be or what we could do would be gratefully appreciated!!! Irionic as our 8 week old has been sleeping through for weeks but our toddler is up partying! Many thanks -------------

I'm not going to be any help I'm sorry. Only to say that I've never heard of that, sounds very cute but I can imagine that it is exhausting. I would just keep on ignoring it, hopefully eventually he will stop or get old enough for you to explain that he needs to be quiet at night.

| PM FionaS. I havent seen her around on here for awhile, but I know she has had ongoing problems with similar issues with her 2 year old ( although hers is most nights and for hrs on end and been ongoing problem). |

Thanks ladies!
I think he does understand when we tell him he's supposed to be quiet, but he's just having too much of a nice time  .
I have a sneaky suspicion that this is his way of dealing with teething. The timings sort of tie in and he's never woken up crying about his teeth. Will PM FionaS and hope she doesn't think that there is some strange person stalking her..... -------------
