Well its been two nights so far that Alex has been in a bed. First night he ended up with us from about 2am.....but only coz I kept falling asleep instead of putting him back to bed after his cuddles!
And his second night he slept all night without even stirring. Now I'm wondering if I should even bother setting up my second cot in his new room? What do you ladies reckon? I think so far I'm having more problems with him being in a bed than he is. I walked into his old room & saw his empty cot last night and had a little cry. Man talk about wimpy but just not really ready for my "baby" to grow up  ------------- Mum to Alex (11), Blaire (10) & Erika (8) and Damien (6) Successful HWB VBA2Cs! Soon to be surrogate |

I dont think I woudl bother putting up the second cot, he seems to be handling it so far and its only been a couple of nights so tahts great. I cried when we put Kobe into a big bed then cried when we took down his cot he on the other hand wouldnt have a bar of his cot once his big bed was up even though we were just going to wean him into it. ------------- KOBE born 19 March 2004 http://www.TickerFactory.com/">

Alex has been sleeping in a bed during the day for a long time now, but I have been putting the night time sleeps off....
Well I think I might not bother putting the second cot up. I am a little worried he might take a step back when the baby arrives but I have a portacot that only takes a minute to set up if I have a problem. Did anyone have trouble with their kids when a new baby arrived?? I tell Alex he has a new brother coming but I'm pretty sure he doesn't understand yet. Yeah... too much stress putting up another cot! So providing you can handle it, he should be fine in a bed!
I've just found out I have to move Hannah to a bed soon as the cot I borrowed has to be returned for another baby and even though it is a bit early, I'm sure Hannah will love being in a big kids bed. (Whether she stays in it is another story). I can't wait actually... She's got a really cool duvet with butterflies on it which she loves. (or maybe I love for her?!? ah well... same thing   )

Hey Nikki, I started off with the day sleeps with Alex so maybe you could try that? I found I had to time it right, so when I put him in bed he had to "want" to go to sleep otherwise he was straight back out again. I think Hannah is only about a week younger than Alex isn't she?

hey there ive just started puting brianna in a bed full time she was sleeping in a bed during the day but not at night but she tells me when she wants to go to bed so its pretty good.
So cool alex is in a big bed he seems fine with it. Just had to had when Brianna was a baby i didnt want to change her from a basinet to a cot coes i thort then she was growing up to fast and now a big bed but i think its exciting when they go into a big bed. Well the third night was another problem-free night. I just can't believe how well this is going! I just hope it keeps going this well!

And thanks for the advice on how to start bed-training... honestly had no idea how I was going to go about it but day sleeps first sound like a brilliant idea. I went and bought a duvet inner for monkey today and I am bidding on as many single beds on TM as I can find. I think I'm going to go overboard and end up buying a whole new bedroom set for her (and then starve for a month) because they look so cool when all set up!!! |

Lol Nikki, I've gone a little bit overboard on bedding myself....I'm abit of a Holden nut so my boy has Holden sheets & I just bought him a Holden Monaro duvet off Trademe 
Luckily the bed didn't cost me anything, yay thankyou Mum!
Ahhhhhh well!! I will have to put a pic up when his room is all done 
Had yet another great night. I'm kind of wondering what I was so worried about with putting him in a bed. The only thing I've decided to stick with is the side rail which came with the bed otherwise I'm sure he would have rolled off since he is such a wriggly worm. I think "maybe" the reason it is going so well is I've been really picking up on when he wants to go to bed. Would love to see photos! Also haven't seen one of your belly since you were 18 weeks!
I haven't got a bed rail but I might try the trick that Maria suggested of putting a pillow on the side away from the wall as well as putting her cot mattress down below her. Will see how she goes with that before trying to hunt down a bed rail. (Just because I'm not sure I could afford one after the bed etc!) I'm also not going to put the legs on the base, so that will just be sitting flat on the ground. Hopefully that's enough to stop her from hurting herself if she does fall off. She's fallen off my bed a couple of times during the night and wasn't too pleased about it! hehe |

Hehe I'm kind of scared of putting a pic of my belly up!! If you look at it from the side it looks at least half as big as my exercise ball.....And I'm not kidding 
Sounds like you have it sussed out for the bed. Alex has fallen off my bed many a time and he has hit my bedside table on the way to the floor too. NOT good

toni,Xander was almost exactly the same age as Alex when we wentcold turkey with his big boy bed I was around the 34ish week mark with harms too. Xander never made a fuss when harms was born cos i thnk he loved his bed too much lol.great to hear Alex has been doing so well tho ------------- BECS http://www.sparklee.com">

Well yet ANOTHER great night last night. So I think that makes 6 days in a row without a problem. I'm definitely not going to bother putting up my second cot. I'm planning on donating it to our local playcentre when they do their garage sale.
