We got back from Brissy in the early hours of Tuesday morning and I noticed when we jumped into bed that DD had some red spots on her back. By morning they had multiplied and by that afternoon had doubled again and moved to her tummy. We took her to the doctors who diagnosed chicken pox and said we should expect to see a lot more, they come in waves and she would be off daycare till about 25/8. From what I read on the net, I would have thought she would have got a couple of hundred spots.
So we were fully expecting a huge influx of pox spots but there has been no more! All the ones she has have crusted over and are looking fab. In total I reckon she got somewhere between 30-40 spots.
Is this just a mild case or have we been very lucky? Or do you think there might be more to come - the doctor led me to believe they would all come out over 3-4 days but its been that with no more!
If it is a mild case, do you reckon we might get chicken pox again at some stage (I am a lucky person who has had it twice!)
TIA

My sister was like that, I was totally covered in them and she only had a few spots. I later got shingles (sp?) which is a different strain of the virus that normally old people get but I was only 11 or 12. My sis has never had the pox again so hopefully Charlotte was just really quick at fighting it off.

Ashleigh had what I thought was chicken pox a few months ago. Actually if you do a search of chicken pox in the photo gallery you may find the pics. Anyway took her to the doc who also assumed CP but for some reason he took a swap from one of the sores. It came back as just a viral rash - not CP at all. The looked exactly the same and were in her hair, ears, girly bits etc - all the classic signs of CP.

I did wonder if it wasn't CP but the doctor was very convinced. And it is going around at daycare also so I think it probably is. I guess only time will tell as to whether or not she gets it again!

I think it's highly likely she will not get them again, every child gets them to a different extent and obviously she has a good immune system.
