After not wanting a a bar of the big bed the first night, Elle has slept in it for the last 2 nights without any fuss at all.
Today she is a bit off colour and was very very tired and got hysterical again in the big bed so is now in the cot for her sleep (she still has both in her room). Is it ok to swap between the two like this for a little bit or will it confuse her? I was totally planning to stick with the bed but she seemed so upset at naptime and desperately needed a sleep so I just caved. ------------- Mummy to Gabrielle and Ashley |

I don't see why there should be a problem. Kahtrell changes from his bed to our bed all the time lolz, and he seems to have no trouble. Because she's not feeling too well, the cot probably feels more familiar and would be more of a comfort mechanism for her. So I think that as long as she's happy and reassured then she'll be fine. -------------

We didn't have to 'swap' in our transition, just went straight from one to the other with a bit of cot side off in the middle, but I am sure there are others out there who have had the cot up for a little while 'just in case' and gone on to full bed sleeping without any problem.

There's two ways to do the transition, one is cold turkey where you take the cot away completely and the other is where you leave the cot up and have a more gradual transition, and if you've left the cot up it's perfectly natural for her to want to switch between the two. I'd just go with it at this stage, you might find in a few days she much prefers her "big girl" bed. -------------  Maya Grace (28/02/03)

I remember my sister having a cot up in the spare room and my nephew would have his day naps in that, but nighttime in the bed. I think it was because he would play up/muck around during the day and not go to sleep. We had both the cot and bed set up in Ella's room for about a month, just in case the transition didn't go well. For a week or two Ella had day naps in the cot (as I tried those in the bed but every time she'd just get up and play), then I tried her in bed for a day nap again and she was fine. I don't think it'll confuse Elle having both options for a while - I'd have done the same and caved too! ------------- Andie |

Sounds like she'll transition fine. When I tried to transition Hannah she got very upset at being only next to the cot so I had to actually take it away before she would settle in the bed. If I were you, I'd try the bed again after she's well (or whatever was troubling her is over). ------------- |

It's all going well now. I actually took the cot out as I rearranged the room. She has had no issues at all and has been in it 3 nights and a couple of day sleeps. She'a actually slept better than she did in the cot but that may be a fluke.
She is very proud of herself for "Gabielle sleep big girl bed". LOL The "illness" is teething apparently. She has a clean bill of health other than 4 very swollen / half through 2 yo molars. They are making her miserable. ------------- Mummy to Gabrielle and Ashley |

We took the cot out of Isaacs room when he moved so that he couldn't choose as I thought that may have caused issues  ------------- Isaac is 6, Ethan is 4, Rico is 2 and Hunter is almost 1! |
