Hi there,
Jake sleeps in a Safe T Sleep ... I'm just wondering - to those who used them - at what age did you stop? He is a good sleeper - wakes a couple of times a month if hes sick (which he is constantly due to being in daycare now) but thats about it. He will normally only wake with a really high temp or if he is so blocked up he can't breathe. Sleeps thru coughing and wipes snot all over his face but doens't wake us, and even slept thru throwing up once! 
So I don't want to take him out and have him standing up in the cot / getting stuck in the bars etc and waking up .... but I'm wondering how long I should keep him in it? I know it says you can til he goes into a bed, but it seems a bit weird to have him strapped into a bed to me. Daycare have just taken him out of it this week, as he opened it up, but he is in a tiny bunk thing that he can't stand up in anyway there. What do you think?? I took Spencer out at around 11 months, he's been fine and made no difference to him sleeping through etc. He loves to sleep in some funny positions now. -------------

| We ditched Daniels at 11 monthish I think. He stands up in his cot and gets into some screwed up positions for his day sleeps but hes fine at night |

we ditched ours when Ella was around 8 months- she figured out how to undo the velco, so i stopped using it. She played around a bit the first couple of days it was taken off, but after that was fine. Ella stands/walks/runs around in her cot, but when she is tired always so to sleep perfectly fine and we use a cot bumper for her, so has never got stuck in the cot bars (although the bumper is more to protect her head when she decides to be silly and run and dive in the cot

we are still using it at almost 2! Vincent likes having his 'belt' on & doesn't make a fuss about it. Was great when we went to samoa & had to sleep him on a big bed & i don't wanna take it off yet as i think it will helps us with transitioning into the big bed. I have heard of them being used til older? -------------

We STARTED using it at about 14 months as that is when Elle started to get up and roll (she walked before then...just did things out of order) and we couldn't get her to sleep. Prior to that she wouldn't move an inch in her bed. We used it for about 5 months so stopped when she was about 19 months. ------------- Mummy to Gabrielle and Ashley |

I used to safety pin Ashleigh's when she learnt how to undo it  I tried a number of times to stop using it but she just would not settle. Finally managed to wean her when she starting flipping onto her belly whilst still very tightly strapped in and was quite uncomfortable. So I sorta let her lead when she was ready. Can't quite remember how old she was though? see Vincent rolls from tummy to side to back etc. i leave it a little loose otherwise he gets too frustrated trying to roll over. Of course when he was little he was wrapped so didn't roll. We started using it very early on. Like a week old or something -------------

Thanks for your answers. I may just keep using it at home for a bit longer then I think. Jake can roll to the side in his too. I've had to pin it to the bed (otherwise he's pull it out from the mattress and get twisted up), but theres enough movement that he can get on to his side easily and almost on to his tum. ------------- DS (5yrs) and DD (3yrs) |

honestly until Vincent starts to kick up a fuss about having it on or starts to get out of it regularly then i will not be tkaing him out of it, i see no harm. he sometimes gets twisted in it once he's awake, but never when he's asleep so i see no worries with it -------------

my boy is still in it....when he isnt (he sleeps in portacot) he thinks its a tramp and it takes about 2 hours for him to settle...i dont have the time or patience for that...........we got one cause he did 360s all night...........when he is staying with grandparents they just layer him up with clothing and dont use safety sleep but poppa pretends to go to sleep on ground so he doesnt move for fear haha. you can use it until 5yrs so i dont see any rush..........he will let me know when he is ready :) ------------- http://lilypie.com">  http://lilypie.com">

i totally agree tysmummy. I think Vincent would play too if he wasn't in his safe t sleep. Mum made it so it not a great expensive one, but works the same & does the same job. And WAY cheaper. lol. I am really wanting to use it to help with transition to big bed. We have four in total. One for the bassinet, one for hte portacot, one for his cot & one at mums place in her portacot. means where ever he goes, it's all the same. we generally have no trouble with settling coz of it -------------

I think it helps with settling Jake too .... he had no probs going to sleep in a portacot last time we stayed at my parents either ... and we'll be using it next month when we go to see them again.
