So I am sorting out Blake moving into single bed over the next month or so as will need cot for bubs....
The bed in his room is the top bunk so there is a rail thing which we will put on........ Did you worry about things like those special net thingys or those sheets with kind of bags sewn on??? Or did you just throw them in there and wait and see type thing??? -------------

| When it comes time for us to move Daniel in a big bed we are just going to dump his cot matress on the floor next to his bed so if he falls out its not straight onto the floor. |

So... Blake is going into a top bunk?
Hrmmmm... I don't know if I'd do it myself, but if you have no other option then I'd just say it better be like jail up there! |

I'm assuming what you mean is that you've dismantled your bunks and are using the top bunk as a single bed at lower level (not actually as a top bunk). We did this and used the rail for the first few nights but Michaela kept waking up when she banged against it and a few times got stuck between the matress and the top of the rail so we removed the rail and just had her cot mattress on the floor for a week until it became obvious that she's not a roller. -------------

Yes have one bed in his room and other in new babies room.....he he not wouldnt put him in a top bunk...for sure he would fall out! -------------

We just went through this same thing in the last week or so and bought a proper barrier thing for the site (pics are in the photos gallery). At first I thought she might not have needed it, but a couple of nights she has clearly ended up against the barrier and would have fallen out otherwise so I'm glad we have it.
As for bedding, we just have the sheet and duvet and put her in them like we would sleep and she doesn't kick anything off like she used to in the cot. |

Ohhhhhhhhhh. I was so confused. heeehehe
I had Hannah's bookcase up against the side of her bed for a little while... but removed it soon after. She's fallen out a few times but isn't really a squiggler so haven't had too many problems! Apart from that I think it is possibly better to have them free. My view is that toddlers are gonna try get out no matter what... sleeping bags etc just mean that they are more inclined to hurt themselves!! But that isn't always the case... do whatever makes you comfortable.

we moved charli into a big bed about a month ago....we put the cot mattress on the floor for the first week or so and i always put her teddy on the 'outside' of the bed so she would have to roll over it to fall out

We used the top bunk bed by itself when we were moving Ethan to the big bed. Worked really well

I am relieved to see that you didn't actually mean a top bunk LOL!
When you put him in the bed, grab the cot mattress and put it alongside the bed as a just incase he falls out. You'll know if he does. We have had pretty good success with almost no falling out (all three kids) so keep fingers crossed and hopefully you'll be ok! Once you've done that for a couple of weeks, and he hasn't fallen out, then you can put the mattress back in the cot -------------  |

K...going to sort out bed bar this weekend and a friend has picked up a THOMAS TANK ENGINE duvet (Blakes fav in the world) so we will make a big deal out of it....and hopefully get him in on the weekend :) -------------
