Rhyley still has 2 bottles a day - one in the morning when he gets up around 100mls and one before bed (not IN bed) around 100mls.
He is the oldest of my children to give up the bottle (and still not looking like he wants to) Part for the night bottle in particular is our bed time routine - bath, cuddle, bottle , bed.... Not to mention the calcium although i am sure he would drink from a sippercups or straw cup. So question is what are your toddlers having in the way of bottle feedin in particular (sorry don't want to miss out those who breast feed at this age just wondered about the bottle feeding - and if Rhyley is the norm) ------------- Ann

At Rhyley's age Michaela was still having 3 bottles (about 250mls each) everyday. In fact I've only just managed to drop the morning and night time bottles and am still trying to convince her daddy to stop letting her fall asleep with a bottle of milk after lunch. -------------

Leah is still having one bottle at bedtime, and thats pretty much as full as I can get it. She is not a big eater and the dr said its fine to still be having it. My nephew had one bottle a day till he was about 2.5, and I know in our coffee group some are still having 2-3 a day. Leah also gets offered a sippy cup at breakfast and sometimes at lunch but she only drinks about 50mls of that at a time. The bedtime bottle is part of our routine like yours and i'm quite happy for her to have it until she is ready to drop it, with the new baby coming i'm keeping as much the same as possible! -------------

Yeah, at his age Charlotte was still having 3 bottles- she finally dropped the before bed bottle when she was about 2 1/2!!!  Because her diet was somewhat restricted because of her allergies I was told to wean her off it over her 3rd year. Shes always been a pretty good eater but she was/still is really active so I liked the idea of getting that extra bit in her.------------- Jen, Charlotte 7 & Kate 3

Caitlin still has 100mls in the morning with her breakfast and 200mls just before bed (but she's refused her bedtime bottle each night this week so she might be about to drop it).
I personally don't see the problem with toddlers having a bedtime bottle, especially if it's part of the bedtime routine (anything for a quiet night  ). I know I like a cup of milky hot choc some nights before bed ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Ollie still has a bottle (200ml) before bed, it is part of his bedtime routine. I have been thinking about using a sippy cup or something similar, but with a new baby in the house and him moving into a big bed I didn't want to change anything else just yet, plus, like Toni, I don't really have a problem with a toddler having a bottle especially when it helps for a quiet night! ------------- DS 8 DD 6 DS 4 DD 2 |

I will not worry unless you have a problem with the bottle yourself. I see loads of kids at that age still having a bottle. Even McKayla had her hot chock in a bottle most nights. She preferred a sippy cup sometimes.
Perhaps just see what he will do if you put it in a sippy cup. Maybe he wont be phased at all. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Ollie still has 3 bottles per day - around 200 mls per feed. I asked Plunket whether that was OK and they said as long as he was happy with it then stick to it. He especially loves his morning bottle and asks for it first thing when he wakes and then we give it to him as part of the night routine as well. ------------- Sebastien 2 years old Olivier 3 3/4 years old |

Gremlins have 2 bottles a day of 250ml each, so 500ml per toddler per day.
Maya gave her bottle to Santa when she was 22 months and he gave her a special cup to replace it. I'm not in a hurry to wean the gremlins tho, like Rhyley the bottles are part of their sleep routine and with baby on the way I figure lets not disrupt things. -------------  Maya Grace (28/02/03)

Rhyley doesn't take the bottle to bed with him its our relax just before bed routine. I didn't mind it was just that I read on another thread (can't remember which one now) saying having a bottle after 18months (or was it 2yr) its bad for their teeth?? and since josh and brooke gave them up before 13 months didn't know what the norm was. ------------- Ann
