Hi girls,

I have a bit of a problem with my almost 20 month old when it comes to bath time. He has up until recently loved having baths and at one stage got quite confident and would sit in the bath and then fling himself backwards (I had to catch him several times from slamming his head in the bath) and he splashed everywhere etc etc so I had to tell him off and say that he could hurt himself if he wasn't careful. Anyway he has since stopped doing this but now when we bath him he starts crying and stands up and wants to get out. Has anyone else been through this and what have you done?

What about having a shower with him, see if he likes that. My kids love the bath, so I'm don't have any other suggestions sorry.

Brenna went through a patch of not liking the bath about 3 months ago so I started bathing with her every night for about 1 month and she's been fine ever since.

Sienna went thru a stage like that too, I just washed her standing up. She did get over it after a couple of weeks.

We haven't been through this but I was also going to suggest that you, well someone as there may not be room for you, Olivier and baby #2!, bath with him. Or could it possibly be that he is cold. When Jack was young we were told that often babies don't like the bath because they get cold. Not sure if it is the same with older ones

I would just ride it out, let him stand. Ethan went through this also, and after a few weeks got over it..

Thank goodness it's not just us! We're going through this too and have been wondering what to do about it.

We don't have a tub to speak of (although DD has been in them at other houses), so we shower her and she loves being in there - so maybe try that? Otherwise as the others have suggested it is hopefully just a phase!

Thanks for your advice girls - will ride it out and see if it is just a phase otherwise we may need to start putting him in the shower - such a shame because like I said he loved having baths but maybe it will get better. Ha ha I don't think there is enough room for myself, Ollie and bubs #2 in the bath at this stage!
