In the last couple of days Ashleigh has started storing the last bite of her food in her mouth. She has done it about 5 times today and one time was for an hour before she finally swallowed! It is really gross and she starts dribbling everywhere . She eats fine but then I guess when she is full and taking her last mouthful she just won't swallow it. So is there anyway I can make her? I've tried getting her to have a drink, or talk, tried tickling her (made her gag but not swallow lol) Help!!

Ewww, Mercedes does this with her last mouthful of milk after her bottle sometimes, she totally knows she is just being cheeky coz she refuses to open her mouth and let you check whether she's swallowed it. Toad monkeys!

Sorry I don't have any advice for you tho

oh my god, we have had battles with this before, she won't fricken swallow the darn mouthful, yet she doesn't want to spit it out! argh,

from my experiences... (ie pretty much every night for about 4 months not too long ago) nope, you can't make them. The more you draw attention to it, the worse it gets and the longer it takes for them to finally swallow.   The one rule we had was that she had to stay sitting at her table iuntil she finished it. She quite often missed out on the story and bedtime stuff because she sat so long that she missed it.

Its gross isn't it!! She has mainly done it with snacks etc so isn't sitting. She did it with some medicine I gave her just before her nap today so I ended up putting her to bed with it so I assume she eventually swallowed it. I was so sick of it this evening as she was about to have a bath, that I was a really really bad mummy and pinched her nose so she had to open her mouth    She spat half of it out and swallowed the rest so at least it was a success

I had to go to Bakersfield A & E once when up visiting Mum and Dad and she wouldn't open her mouth for the doc to look down her throat so he pinched her nose. At the time I thought it was a really mean thing to do to a little child but tonight I thought, hey, whatever works lol!
