Hi guys
Wondering if anyone else has had this with their child when toilet training. We started TT Gia earlier this year. Got off to a slow start, then (as they do), she got really good with going and now is a pro! Thing is, I've still been putting a nappy on her for her afternoon and night sleeps. Thinking she'll still need to be in one for quite some time. (Rico has been Toilet Trained for 2.5 yrs and still wears a nappy to bed at night and wets). But for the past month or so, she hasn't been wetting her nappy during her arvo sleep, and 9 times out of 10, doesn't wet at night. I've stopped putting a nappy on now for her day sleeps and she's never wet (YAY!), but am too scared to not put one on her at night. Anyone else found their child's been this quick to give up the nappy altogether for their sleeps? I know all it will mean if she does wet, is she'll wake up and i'll have to change her bed, not too much of a biggy. But still am scared to so! She hasn't wet in about over a week! She surprised me at how fast she was at being dry at night and day sleeps after toilet training during the day. I just mentioned it on another thread, but if she has been dry overnight and her urine is really strong in the morning then I'd definitely give it a go with no nappy at night. |

I had heard girls were easier to TT, but Gia did seem to take longer than what Rico did. One day when he was 2 yrs 3mths he just started going by himself and never had accidents. Gia started about the same age, and had a lot of accidents initially, but then one day it must've just clicked and she's been great since. Rico didn't stop wearing a nappy for his day-sleep till he was over 3, and like I said earlier, still wears one to bed at night, and it's wet and full every morning. i'm in a similar situation with jack.....but he doesn't sleep during the day so i'm scared to leave him all night without a nappy 
but if gia is dry during her naptime, and also dry in the morning then i'd be doing away with a nappy.....try it for a couple of nights and see what happens ------------- http://www.alternatickers.com">

It can't hurt to try, a plastic sheet on the mattress would minimise any mess.
My Maya was day TT by 22 mths but still in night nappies at 4 and lots of her friends who day TT later were night TT long before she was. -------------  Maya Grace (28/02/03)

We take Ella to the toilet for dream-wees when we're going to bed, just in case there's any there.
7/10 times she doesn't need to go and stays dry anyway but the other 3 times its saved having to change the bed! You could try that with Gia? ------------- Mel, Mummy to E: 6, B: 4 and:

Brae clicked with the night TT & day TT round the same time. After a month of night nappies being dry when he woke, we ditched them & have never had a accident  ------------- Mummy of Two Boys B: 2004 K: 2007 |

I was shocking with brooke i still put training pants on (pull ups) at night even though she would go weeks without wetting it. I took the plunge and never looked back - yes she still had the odd accident (plastic materress protector with material one over top soaked most accidents) ------------- Ann

I'd give it a try for a couple of nights. The nights are really cool at the moment so there might be a little adjustment at first because I'm sure a nappy bum is a lot warmer just just pj's! She has night TT faster than my girls have/did but sounds like she's ready. I'd try not to make a huge fuss over it in case it doesn't work out or is short-lived - so she doesn't plunge into depression! ------------- |

I forgetfully gave up the night nappy after a week!! Bay caught on quick with TT and was fully TT within a week or so at 2yrs old then a week later i forgot to put him in a nappy at night and he woke up in the morning (still dark) and ran downstairs to go toilet!!!! and it stayed that way and he has never had a bed accident, he has had some day time ones where he has waited too long and wee'd himself while pulling his pants down in front of toilet......now getting him to stand up was another story!! - he has only just been doing that over past yearish!
