A Mercedes who gets her carseat straps undone, climbs over the back seat and tries to get Sienna's straps undone?

I nearly crashed this morning when I looked in my rear view mirror and saw Miss Thang bouncing around on the back seat. I had to pull over and strap her back in. She'd gotten one side of her buckle undone and then managed to wriggle out of the other side. I strapped her back in and five mins later she was at it again. Needless to say there was a lot of mummy growling going on!

Help! How do I make her stay in the carseat? Straitjacket maybe?

Yep that should work!  What a ratbag.... you almost need something to lock the straps together so she can't slip them over her shoulders.  Just not sure what.

You can get locking clips from the Baby Factory, the prob was tho that she got the actual 5 point harness undone

Hannah got out one day and I flipped in a huge way. Yelling... yelling... and a bit more yelling.

She hasn't really done it since then.

Is she old enough to respond to a stern lecture about safety?? Otherwise I've got nothing.

Oh... *chanelling Liz* duct tape?

Oh no! I say sell her

Otherwise maybe look into getting a carseat where the shoulder straps are all in one piece and go over the head then plug in at the legs (make sense?)

Blake gets out of his as well...so we lock the top bits above the 5 point harness with a clip thing..up high.

Plus I also did a whole yelling drama thing one day and so did Paige. He still does it now and then but not every time!

See the gremlins just don't get the whole yelling thing. They think it means "keep doing what I'm doing and grin cheekily at the same time coz that will *really* pee mum off!"

Maybe the clip across the top would work, if she can't get it open. As far as I'm concerned, car seats are a non negotiable, so I have to get the message across somehow!

Can you do it up so the bit you push to undo it is facing her??? So it is back to front - do you get what I mean???

Put both little gremlin hands in mittens, then tie them together. Do the same thing to Sienna so she can't undo Mercedes' (and vice versa).

I'm going to be a great parent!

OMG thats so young to be an escape artist. Alex didn't do that until she was much older. I took her out of the car stood her on the foot path and told her if she wouldn't keep it on she could walk!!! That stopped her (I'm such a mean mummy)

OMG! I have no suggestions. But DD1 has started wriggling her shoulders out of the car seat straps too, hasn't gotten totally out of the seat yet, but I may have to invest in one of those clips. Yikes!

How about making a cloth cover you can pull over it perhaps? McKayla did this with me when she was still rear facing. Gave us a freaking heart attack.

It gets better. Tonight Sienna got her arms our (just out of the straps, not fully undone) and leaned over and bit a huge chunk out of Mercedes hand and there was nothing I could do till I could pull over, she was hanging onto poor Mercedes fingers with her teeth for dear life

Tomorrow to the Baby Factory for car seat clips. Failing that, I'll separate the little tarts, one can go next to Maya and one next to baby. Oooh hang on, maybe not next to baby

those blue clips are pretty much toddler proof as we struggle to get it undone (that doesn't mean they are Gremlin proof though!)

I think I paid $9 at Baby City

Just do it up almost under her chin, she'll never get her arms out of the straps then (hopefully!)

Well we had a look in the BF today at those blue clips, and ended up with these things that dome over the straps with the domes at the back so they can't get them off, they were only $10 so if they don't work it's no big deal, but worth a try! Couldn't figure out how the blue clips worked.
