Ok so Jack has always been really good about brushing his teeth but then maybe a month ago he started wanting to do it himself, he would let me help him once a day and he would do the rest. Now he has decided only he can do it so whats the best way to tackle this, let him do it for a week and then see if he will let me?
or hold him down and do it?

I don't know if this would work with Jack but I brush my teeth at the same time and initially let Michaela do hers then say, "it's mummys turn now" and she grabs my tooth brush, I grab hers and we brush each others teeth.
It's not exactly pleasant as she's pretty rough and knocks my gums a lot but it gets the job done.

Yah I let Zaara brush her teath....but she tends to chew the brush and suck on the paste (eeeww) but I leave her to it while I brush, then I say...Mumma help Zaara....she puts up a fight...I just hold her head and tell her to open her mouth...she does open with a moan!!!

Trying singing the "brush your teeth" song with him.
I had to hold her head still to brush too, it was a battle at that age.
I will get her to "grr like a lion" so I can brush the front and sides of her teeth, then "open really wide" so I can get the inside bits quickly.

I've never heard of this - can you sing it for us?

Oh is that this one?
When I wake up in the morning at a quarter to 2
And I feel that I want something to do
I brush my teeth
chh chh chhh-cchhh chhh chh chh chh chhhh
lol but I could never remember the other ones so always just made them up.... but somehow 3 always wants to rhyme with pee or wee....
I had to sing this every night when I was nannying. Think 3 preschoolers in a bath together! Something that helped was prob also that I brushed them when they were in the bath so they were a bit distracted. Also I'd say "what song do you want tonight?" and I'd sing a song while brushing teeth/washing hair, provided a good distraction.
They also had electric toothbrushes (you can pick them up pretty cheap) which was a novelty factor. And also if they brushed their teeth, it actually worked better cos all you need to do is hold it still.
Another particularly good song is that one off Barney...
If all the raindrops were lemondrops and gumdrops, oh what a rain that would be
Standing outside with my mouth open wide
uh uh uhuh uhuhuh uhuhuh
Cos they could sing the uh bit which I was brushing their teeth!

thanks everyone good suggestions. Jack hates me singing (I didn't think I was that bad lol) but I think its just because its something he has no control over. I might try the brushing each other idea and if that fails I'll get an electric one.
Thank you
