Wow - thank you all so very very much for all the good wishes.

Egg Collection went well, have ended up with 6 eggs out of the 8 follicles (2 were empty). I don't recall any of the procedure as I was pretty out of it, was anesthetised due to Endo. Am a little achy, wheatbag doing the trick there - have been lying on the couch all arvo.

The embryologist is calling tomorrow morning at 9.30 with the news of how many have fertilized. All going well we'll be back in on sunday for transfer.

Again, thank you all very much for the good wishes.

Wow exciting for you Melly, hope 9.30 tomorrow gives you great news.

How many are you looking at having transferred??

As we are on the public system and it is our first IVF we are only allowed to have one transferred.

When you say anaethetised (sp - too lazy to check! ) - were you under general, or whatever they do for conscious sedation?

Not quite a general, I was coming and going, but more than they normally do for this procedure. Apparently i was talking and asking how many eggs, but don't remember a thing, as far as I was concerned i was sound asleep

I hope they do the same for me But then, I think your endo was worse than mine

Apparently the EC is extremely painful if you have endo - I'm not sure why, but it seems to make a difference somehow.

When do you find out how fertilisation has gone?

I think they did normal ivf and yes success rate is normally between 60 & 80 %.

They will replace one and freeze the others either at 3 day 8 cell or 5 day blastocyst depending on how they progress.

All went well today .

We've got a nice 8 cell embryo that has been transfered. We've been lucky enough to have two others at 8 cells available to be frozen and two others at 9 cells that are going to be monitored to blastocyst stage and if all is ok they'll freeze those. We lost one embryo due to not dividing properly.

I can't rate the staff at FA highly enough, they have been fabulous during our treatment and today just topped it off.

Anyway - back at work today, not doing too badly, except have an upset tummy (feels like something isn't sitting right..just below ribs ) and am really tired, had hoped that symptom would disappear...am heading off home in about an hour to have a nap and continue working from there - good when you can count internet searching as your work...

Felt better today but still bailed from work early (4pm)

Heard from Lab today that one didn't make it to Blastocyst and the other while it did make it it wasn't of high enough quality to freeze - so we still have two 8 cell embryos frozen

Not having such a flash day today. Went to the bathroom today at work and noticed a bit of bleeding, was more like pink mucus and got a bit freaked out. It has stopped now, didn't actually last long, now have a small bit of brown spotting.

Spoke to nurse at FAA and she assures me this is normal, as long as I don't get lots of fresh red blood accompanied by pain (which i don't)but that I need to take it easy and rest up - so am now at home spending time on the couch with the sky remote (gotta love the living & food channels).

Lulu or evolsun, did either of you experience this?

I suppose it could be, not sure how much (spotting) would you account for that?

Posted By: Lulu
Date Posted: 10 April 2008 at 3:58pm
Hi Melly, gosh I am trying to think back. I know I had some bleeding throughout the injections, but I don't think I had any after embryo transfer. But the nurses are so experienced in the different things that happen, I would definately take her word for it that you shouldn't worry unless the bleeding gets worse and you have pain. It's such a hard time Melly, I know that I worried about every twinge I felt and wondered what they all meant. The two week wait is the hardest part of the whole IVF journey I think. What date is your bloodtest?

Oh and another thing that I just remembered was while I don't think I had any bleeding after embryo transfer, I did have a couple of pinkey mucous after I got a BFP. I freaked out, but it was all normal and o.k.

Argh - so I'm not the only one having panic attacks? (I don't think down reg is going well this time either)

How are you doing today melly??

I have everything crossed that you're coming out of this with your baby - one of us has to!!

no you are definitely not alone with the panic attacks!
Not doing too bad today, spotting seems to have abated a bit - haven't made it to work yet. Am giving it another half hour then will reassess. So fingers crossed all it was was implantation bleeding and spotting to do with that

No one did ever say that TTC or IVF would be easy

Posted By: ginger
Date Posted: 11 April 2008 at 9:36am
That's good that you're ok - hopefully the spotting stops, and yes, it would be wonderful if it was implantation bleeding. It would make sense if it was about now too, wouldn't it for implantation?

I knew IVF would be hard, but I really wasn't prepared for the mental endurance required. I don't suppose anything can prepare you for it really.

Ah well - pg test for you next week, down reg BT for me - bring on next week huh?

Have decided not to go to work today - taking another day just to make sure all is ok.

Anyway back off to the couch.

Me too noodle - I'm supposed to have had a bleed after the trigger injection but I haven't, although I'm cramping something terrible. BT is Tuesday and I'm really worried. I guess though that I can't change anything - I'm my body isn't behaving, it isn't behaving. Mind you, last time I had a bleed which was supposed to be a good sign, and it was the complete opposite so who knows?
