DD has cut her eye teeth and I have spent the past week and a half thinking that she's cutting her molars as well, because she's dribbling uncontrollably and chewing her fingers. However, she's also become very sensitive about her mouth - she screams and cries every time she tries to eat tomatoes or orange or marmite; we don't use any of the baby toothpaste any more and tooth brushing in general is a nightmare; she won't let us touch the inside of her mouth to check the teeth; pamol is a nightly necessity to get her comfortable. She has also recently developed really bad breath and had a small sore at the corner of her mouth (pharmacist wasn't sure that it was a cold sore, it went away pretty quickly).
Today I noticed that the skin around her bum (mostly on her butt cheeks and round the top of her thighs, not really close to her private parts) has little red raised spots - they don't really look like a rash but there are heaps of them.
She hasn't had the normal yucky teething poos that she usually has.
Is this all consistent with cuttig back teeth? I thought tonight maybe it's oral thrush, but have never encountered it before so have no basis for comparison. I will take her to the doctor tomorrow and get it checked I think, but wanted to know if anyone had experienced this with their kids?

Could be oral thrush...if you can, look inside her cheeks and see if there are white patches. Elle had it once and it wasn't nice. Red spots on the bottom can be thrush too so if you are really worried, a course of pediatric pro-biotics to deal to the entire digestive system would help or even just acidophilus yoghurt.
Hugs to you and your girl.

Oh man! I didn't even think of that! And one of the other due in May ladies just had her daughter diagnosed with it too. Hamilton ain't that far from Auckland, it might be. What's the solution for it?
