i came across this and thought it would be a great idea to do with our toddlers.

      *~*~* Salt Ceramic Playdough *~*~*

Ingredients - 1 1/2 cups salt, 3/4 cup Cornflour, 1 cup Water. Mix the ingredients together in a pot, then cook over a low heat, stirring frequently until the mixure becomes solid. Turn out and knead immediately. Makes enough for three or four children. Leave for 36 - 48 hours to harden. This playdough can be moulded into shapes, make into beads and used for making hanging decorations. Make any holes that might be required in the finished product before the playdough is left to harden. It can also be painted after it has hardened. The children had put qlitter on them as well. They looked lovely

I will probably try this over the weekend...sounds like a lot of fun

Hope you dont mind me adding something we are doing Kaz...

We have made some calendars for the grandparetns. I got Hannah to do some painting and we picked the best 2, printed out a small wallet sized photo of Hannah to stick in the corner and got it laminated. Then printed off the calendar pages from the net and got them bound. Voila - cheap pressies the grandies can enjoy all year!

I already had the paints and card to paint on. I printed the calendar pages off the net so 'free' as well. The laminating was $3 and the binding was $3. Oh and I just printed off a little wallet sized photo at home too, so that didnt cost either.

made it today and amazingly enough, it wasn't eaten! Quite gritty, but the salt looks awesomely sparkly. we made a snowman and some other "creations" that I'm sure grandparents will adore...if not the art world. jake enjoyed playing with it. will post some pics later. We have them all in the hot water cupboard and will let you know how they dry. You could add some essential oil I think - and we were thinking about some lavendar from the garden but it is all fresh - perhaps some dried stalks stuffed would have looked good - a kind of arrnagement or whatever
