From our local kindy, Ella has made it to the top of the waiting list and will start afternoon kindy at the beginning of next year!
We are going next Monday for pre-entry and Ella is SO excited.
Me too! She is so ready to go. (Although I'm sure I'll be very sooky when she actually starts for real!)

kindy is half day and is meant to prepare them for school....however a lot of daycares now (most?) have educational structures for 3 years up anyways so some of their day is spent doing what the kindys do...and daycare is more a child minding facility for the day than a education for a few hours.

If the kids are already in a good daycare i see no need for kindy....and ii you work kindy can be a bugger to get to and from as sessions start and finish at weird times...I cannot see Ella going to kindy and having watched the kids at daycare around 4years old they all look like they are in school already more than the toddler and baby classes.
