Has ayone elses toddlers had mouth ulcers?

Ben has been sick since staurday with some yucky virus, one of the lovely symptoms ( apart from fever, grottiness etc!!) is a mouth full of ulcers all over his tongue ( which is almost white with them) and inside the lips.

The doctor suggested pamol for the pain, has anyone used anything else, he can't eat and its been 3 days without more than a mouthful of food, and constant dribbling..

My poor bubba Thanks ladies

Poor Ben, and poor you. Like I have said loads of times, let me know if there is anything at all I can do to help.
I would try bonjela- you can get the one for mouth ulcers, or just use the regular teething ones on them and see if tat gives him any relief. Cold things like an iceblock may help too,..and a ood way to get fluid into him,...just make sure u dont give him juice or acid foods.
Hugs

I second the bonjela mouth ulcer gel stuff - DH has used it on ulcers before and said it was great. Numbed the pain a bit. If it does work, you might be able to get some food in while they are numb.

Hope he is feeling better soon.

Swooshing salt water around the mouth is good for ulcers but might be a bit hard to get a toddler to do that. Although if you got it in his mouth he would definately spit it out again so might be worth a try.
Bongela is also good.

Hannah got hit with a couple of viruses simultaneously once (well, we guess that's what happened) and the same thing happened - fricking pharmacist told me she was just teething

Anyway, bonjela and pamol and do your best to ride it out.

Hope it's over soon!! xoxo

Yip I second the Bonjela idea, I get mouth ulcers when tired and stressed and all I use is Bonjela. It works a treat and helps numb the pain as well.

When Xanda first started on antibiotics and wouldn't take them I use to mix them in a milo for him and then they would all be gone.

Poor Ben, and poor you! Try syringing the meds into the corner of his mouth, a little at a time. Try given him a sip of water in between each little bit. Even if he protests, I know its awful, but its nicer than him ending up in hospital having the antibiotics in a drip. Yuk Yuk! Please let me know if I can help at all.

Oh poor baby antibiotic's taste yuck so I don't really blame him spitting it out, they just don't understand why you are making them take them. Hugs to you both.
For the ulcers you could ask your chemist or doctor if he can take "folic acid" thats what Natasha takes as she is on some pretty horrid medications (chemo type stuff) the folic acid prevents her from getting mouth & stomach ulcers.
