Just moved into a big boys bed

I woke up today to a big thump followed by crying, so I went into Jacks room and he had jumped/fallen out of his cot and since the sides are quite high we decided today was the day for a big boys bed. We went and chose an animal duvet cover and he is currently asleep lying across the end of his bed.

It seems like it was only yesterday we moved him into his cot

Gosh that's so funny, the timing with the posts last week about this!

Their bodies look so tiny in a big bed at first, don't they?

Last night was terrible, Jack kept coming out so we shut the door and he fell asleep. At about 3 he woke up and would not go back to sleep and was screaming and we couldn't settle him. I went in to sleep with him but then Caprece woke up for a feed so I went and fed her and he started screaming again. Ben decided to go sleep with him but by this point it was about 5 and they slept a couple of hours before ben got up for work and Jack did not stay in bed by himself.

Any ideas on keeping him in bed by himself and him not screaming? without us sleeping with him?

I am in the same boat as you at the moment, Xanda has been in a big bed for a few months now, but this past week won't go to bed without someone being there with him and kicks up a stink if you don't lay next to him. And every night he makes his way to our bed sometime during the night and when we try to put him back in his bed he will not stay there. So I too am interested in any tips people have.

We found when Xanda first went into a big bed, we had to be firm with him, and if he started to cry I would tell him in a stern firm voice that it was bed time, and I would see him in the morning.

Better because I was mean and put one of those handle locks on the door so he couldn't open it. He woke up once but I was so tired I was all confused and by the time I realised it was him and not a baby in my dream he was starting to settle himself
