Hi,

Had some issues replying to your PM for some reason...

Yep thats my baby!! Its one of the 3d scans - while slightly more expensive - SO worth it!!

I had mine done at Ascot hospital in Auckland. I know there arent many places around that do them, so you need to have a hunt around, but they really are fantastic! Especially seeing as you get a dvd of your baby moving as well!!

There's a couple more here if you want to have a look?http://defunc.com/v-web/gallery/Karens

That is so cool! There is a place at the Eden Quarter shops who do them as well - and I think it might be free.... Certainly going to try and get one done at my 20 week scan

I know that they are subsidised by the government, but not entirely like the normal ones are...

Still - they are definitely worth spending the money on!

I gave a printout of one of my pics to my dad, and he's framed it and put it up on the wall.

So cute!

it really is such an amazing experience!

From memory, I think they charged us $160 for the scan at Ascot. That included a full moving DVD of the whole scan, all the images they took on a disk as well, and they picked one of the best ones to print out high quality for us to take with us as well.

All you need is a referral from your doctor or midwife and you can go there.

Do you live in Auckland?

Yes, we're in Onehunga. $160 is pretty pricey but I think I might do it and get the best one framed for my mum for Christmas!! The last two scans I had were disappointing. They technician couldn't figure out how to record on the dvd, so all we have are the stills. Did you take along your own dvd or did they provide one for you?

Onehunga's only around the corner from Ascot! Perfect!

they provided everything for us. The lady that did the u/s was absolutely fantastic. we walked away with 2 disks. One of the pics they took, and the other was a DVD of the whole thing. we also got a printed picture, so that was the one i gave to my Dad.

I thought it was a little pricey as well at the time, but now having done it, i'd consider spending it again if i need another scan!

Auckland X-Ray in Dominion Road do free 3D scans, I am not sure if you have to pay extra for the DVD though. I heard from someone who had hers there and she said it was one of the nicest scan places she had ever been to with the very latest equipment.

Alrighty people... here is the deal!!

It says, if you are an eligible NZ resident and you haven't had your 18 wk scan they'll give you the scan and 4D free... dvd will cost $10. To get a free scan you must have a referral from your midwife.

The scan will cost $80 if you've already had your 18 wk scan or you want a scan without having a referral...

Bookings are essential.

It is at:
Auckland Xray Services Ltd
290 Dominion Road, Mt Eden, Auckland
Phone: 638 5169 or email: auck.xray@xtra.co.nz

HOPE THAT HELPS!!!

Hey Deb, i think i know the one you are talking about - we had him for our scan with paris - but it took about the same amount of time and he was gret - possibly he might have freaked out a bit when Alan wasn't moving - wouldn't be nice to be a sonographer having to tell parents there was possibly something wrong with the baby? He had no right to talk to you that way though, but still.. as far as i know they always get someone else to come in and have a wquick look over to see if they have missed anything and also to confirm the sex, so that you have 2 people thinking the same..

From the time I was about 32 weeks until she was born, Kiya would get the hiccups every evening at 8pm-ish. My whole tummy would twitch!
