I'm 40w4d pregnant, and have tonight started experiencing some quite strong vaginal pains. Below is an excerpt taken from a website:
"Some women occasionally feel a sharp, stabbing pain inside the vagina during late pregnancy.
This is probably linked to the cervix starting to dilate, which can happen weeks, days, or hours before labour begins.
It is usually nothing to be concerned about, but tell your doctor if it causes a great deal of discomfort."
Could this mean I'm actually going into labour? Has anyone else experienced this and then gone into labour sonn after? If so, how long after were you in active labour? TIA!

lol - so do I! I want my baby out now. It's really deflating going past my DD, even though I know 75% of babies arrive after their DD. I'll be induced on Monday if things don't happen by themselves before then - and I don't want an induction if I can possibly help it!

I use to get a 'heavy' very uncomfortable feeling down there towards the end of pregnancy - although not directly before labour. Let your midwife know she may do an internal to check how things are down there, if she hasn't already IYKWIM.... Good luck for when baby does arrive

I never felt anything in my vagina (until the head LOL) but it does sound promising, esp that far over. Hopefully if nothing happens by Monday you'll be able to have a 'gel' induction or something cause your body must be preparing somewhat.
