Hello

I am currently 9 weeks (first baby) and searching for a midwife - I have no idea where to start! I haven't told any family or friends yet so cannot ask for any advice....so hoping you can help.

I have been to the Te Awamutu birthing centre and really loved it so hoping to have the birth there.

I have shortlisted a few midwives:

Michelle Kingston-White, Dawn McHugh, Juliet Dagnall, Jenny Baty-Myles, Robyn Whiske.

Does anybody have any experience with these ladies?

I just want somebody with a fair amount of experience but is most of all caring mum-like character! As natural birth as I can is also important.

Thank you :)

You probably want to get onto meeting and selecting a MW, many of the really popular ones book up well before 12 weeks! They also need an agreement with T.A birthing centre to allow them to work there and some of those you have selected may not. Check out the thread for MW recommendations and look in the Waikato section, but your best bet is to ring and either talk or meet them in person to gauge whether they align with what you are looking for. I was under Dawn (highly recommended in everything I read and seemed lovely to begin with), but personally I wouldn't recommend her (won't go into that here).
