Hello.....

have a lil bit of an issue with the middle name of my baby if its a girl.

My middle name is Anne and I HATE it- im the 4th generation with the middle name anne which is the only reason why io got it ....anyhow we can see where this is going.....i dont want my baby to have a name i hate but dont want to upset my mum and grandma because that matters to me.
I was thinking of some variations like annebelle or like other countries variation of Anne like spanish annae

thoughts on what i could do would be awesome

I think that is a lovely compromise.
Are you able to discuss it with your Mum at all first?

i think that is a fab way to keep everyone happy! i too have Anne as my middle name, same as my Mum and Granny.

i grew up thinking it was such a boring MN but now love it because of the history behind it. will be using it as a MN for my firstborn if i have a girl it is so nice to use the MN as a 'honouring' spot, if i still disliked Anne i would be trying to do the same as you i reckon! good luck my pick would be Anneliese, i think it's so pretty!

I think using a variation of Anne is a lovely idea to keep the family happy (but only if you find a variation YOU love).

How about Anna/Annabelle/Annelise

I think a variation is a good compromise, I love the name Anais.

Or how about giving bub 2 middle names? One could be Anne? My DD has Eva Anne as her middle names

Our family has Anne as well... My grandma's name is Anne and my mums middle name is Annette. My middle name is Anne and I chose to give my DD Anne as her middle name because I wasn't too fond of Annette...

I think a variation is a nice idea...

I too hated my middle names (have 2) but came to love it/grow into it because of the special meaning behind it.

Our DD has 2 middle names and her second one is Maria after MILs middle name.

2 middle names is also a family tradition for girls on my side of the family and DP really wasn't keen on her having 2 middle names as they only have 1 on his side so we've compromised that any boys will just have 1.

At the end of the day the main thing is that you like the name.

My grandma was so upset that we were going to name her Lily and have Maria as a second middle name but once she was born my grandma didn't care!

Also maybe have a look at your family history rather than going with another countries variation... How did Anne come to be in your family? You may find another name you love that was an old family members name if that makes sense...

Lol what is it with Ann/Anne? My DHs niece, sister, mum and grandmother all have Ann as their middle names too. Won't be a continuing tradition if we have a girl though.

I agree with Nicky - find another family name you really like?!

For the little impact a middle name has, I would use the traditional family name. In my opinion it is the first name that counts anyway.
