DS currently sleeps for about 11.5 hours a day.

He has a 1.5 - 1.75 hr nap in the middle of the day and then does about 10hrs at night. He goes down at around 7:30pm and wakes at about 5:30am.

This doesn't seem like much sleep to me - does this sound alright for a 14mo or....???

Is he grumpy? From memory at that age we had about 2 hrs in the day and overnight from 7 until about 6.30 -6pm. Morning sleeps got later once DD got more mobile and ran around more.

DS is slightly older but has had the same routine since about 13 months.

He has one sleep per day and goes down at 11am - 12.30/1pm depending on how tired he is. Then at night goes down between 6.30pm/7pn and sleeps until 6.30pm/7am every night. There are times he goes to bed a bit earlier if he's had a big day and is gets grumpy in the evenings but usually he sticks to the same routine. HTH

Every baby is different and some sleep more than others! DD at 17 months is sleeping far more than she ever has with bed being about 8pm until 9am! And then a 2 hour nap (sometimes) during the day (9x out of 10).

Before she'd sleep maybe 9 hours at night and 1 2 hour nap or 2 1 hour naps.

I think around 1 years they need about 12-14 hours of sleep.

I think it depends a lot on your baby/toddler. If hes hapy I would say he is getting enough.

Kiara has always been a child who needs a lot of sleep. So she has 11-12 hours overnight (7-6:30/7) and then a 2 hour morning nap and a 1-3 hour afternoon nap, so 15-17 hours all up. But she gets extremely grumpy if any of her sleep is cut short.
Kiara is 3 and Teagan is 2, now we're expecting our long awaited 3rd!

As a general rule I would say no he isn't getting enough sleep but then as others have said each child is different.

I could have written your post, my 2yr's sleeps are exactly the same, even the horrible 5.30am wake up. according to the guidelines a 2yr should sleep 13-13.5hrs in 24hrs (12mth ol is 13.5-14hrs). I am currently trying to get my son to sleep another 1/2-1hr in the mornings, not much success though

How are his moods? I know if my kids are grumpy/teary/tantrummy they needs more sleep. DS at 27 months had a nap in the middle of the day from 1 to anywhere between 2.30-4pm, then at night from 7-7.30pm to 6.30-7am. At 14 months he was doing 11-12 hours overnight and two naps of 1.5-2 hours during the day.

Yeah he seems pretty happy so I guess he just doesn't need much sleep! You'd think he would though cos he does not sit still EVER but guess as everyone said, every baby is different and some need more sleep than others. Thanks guys!
