Topic: I am so so so tired! Posted: 27 January 2011 at 11:53am |
Far out... all I want to do is sleep. Have put my 2yr old down for his sleep....but probably need to get him up again soon so he goes to sleep tonight...although I am very tempted to just let him sleep. My 3.5yr old is watching TV because I dont have the energy to do anything with him.
I feel like I am being the crappest mum because I have zero motivation or energy.
Any hints?

only hint I have, is to stop feeling like the crappiest mum, you have zero motivation or energy because you are growing a baby, looking after a toddler and a preschooler and its blimming draining.
Rest when you can as much as you can ,if it means mr 2 has a longer nap, so be it, if it means mr 3 watches some tv more than he usually would, so be it.
Now is not the time to feel guilty or want to run around playing with the kids and doing activities, they will be fine, they wont remember this time and wont hold it against you,you need to go easy on yourself.

Oh Nikki I so felt the same during that 1st trimester, wondered what on earth I was doing to them and how unfair it all is on them. But it's a short time and they forget, and S was stoked when I bought him toy story 3 to watch...lol

I agree with everyone too, I felt like that with only one to chase!
You cant be everything to every one , sometimes you just have to be nice to yourself

You'll be of much more use to the rest of your family if you look after yourself, and if that means taking some time to put your feet up when you're about to hit the wall, then so be it!
I've had this over the last few weeks, absolutely exhausted, and no amount of sleep seems to be helping me catch up to myself, plus I've been really ratty and grumpy... really bad timing with school hols, and a Mr 7 going on 17 who knows exactly how to push the wrong buttons! But I've rediscovered the benefits of having Playhouse Disney, and Jae hasnt watched it before so thinks its utter magic!

A walk to a friends house made the tiredness more bearable even if my boys were being total sh*ts...well the big one was, the little one knows when to be cute.
I am so friggen tired I feel like I am about to hit the wall, and no, I am not one of these women that runs around and cleans when I should be resting....my house looks like a bomb has gone off. Unfortunately DH is working late tonight...I am very spoilt...he looks after me normally and cooks when I am too tired. I think the boys might be having sandwiches for dinner....its just too hot to cook.

Absolutely. You'll probably get a good week followed by an exhausting week. Play each day as it comes. If the 2yo is in bed, so should you be!!! as much as possible. The 3 1/2 year old will be okay

Dont beat yourself up chick - you are doing a fantasic job! Its darn hard work growing a baby - especially in this heat.
O has been watching a lot more telly / DVDs in the last week or so, I just have had no energy to play or interact, he thinks its wonderful! Make "picnic" teas into something special too....we have been doing cold teas in the garden under the trees!
Dont stress about your house, no one cares...its not the end of the world if its messy! Trust me - I cant bend over at the moment and my house is full of stuff that just has to wait for DH to get home to tidy, or I dont worry about it at the moment!
Chillout with the kids, watch silly movies, eat popcorn....but most of all just relax and go easy on yourself.

Hugs Nikki!
You know that thing in your lounge called a couch, if there's stuff on it, push it off onto the floor, grab T & snuggle up together watching a movie while J sleeps. Guaranteed T will stay quiet while he watches TV & You can have a snizz.
You are allowed to be a crappy Mum in the first tri, you've got the rest of their lives to make it up & I know they'll get it back in spades.

Thanks Kel....its a nice idea,....if only T wouldnt whack me in the face as soon as I doze off...that kid is cruel!
But seriously, I mentioned it to my friend who knows I am PG and she told me off for not calling her to come round. So maybe next time I will....even if it for a cup of tea and some sanity. You dont feel as tired when you arent alone.

I discovered kidzone when I first got MS and was so exhausted so I need to undiscover this habit now, but totally use it when you need to. The kids won't mind I'm sure
