Mr 3.5 will NOT go to the toilet on the toilet. It doesnt matter how much I bribe, sit him on there bla bla bla, he wont do it. I even tried just taking nappies away from him (boy that was a disaster) but he just would poo and wee anyway.
I decided to make this thread as he's sitting on the floor, he's just done a poo (nappy on) and I said to him 'have you done poo's?' .. 'no mummy'. this is what we get all the time. I once timed him (yes, this is really bad) to see how long it would take for him to tell me he'd done a poo, and it wasnt until he'd done another one that he decided to tell me - this was well over an hour.

I just dont get it! i've tried star charts, training pants, straight into undies, everything! I've even tried positive re-enforcement, bribery with 'we can go to the swimming pool!' etc, but no. help! He's not even making faces when he goes. He just goes!

Hi Miss Angel, can fully relate to your post! DD trained at about 3 years old and it was all her choice. I did everything with her as you have mentioned above and she was not having a bar of it. So I decided to give her pull ups and I didn't speak another word of TT. She knew everything she had to do to go toilet so it was up to her, and one day she woke up and asked for undies instead of pull ups. She still wore a nappy for poos but got used to that also after another couple of months.

DS is nearly three now and is not interested at all - even less interested than DD was but as much as I look forward to him TT'ing, it is up to him. I do talk to him about it now and then and ask him if he would like to go to test his interest and now and then he is keen to sit on the toilet or wear undies for a little while.

Yesterday when I changed DS's nappy in the morning I asked him if he wanted to go on the toilet and for the first time in ages he said yes!! He sat down the first time and said 'it's not working' lol so I gave him a big drink and ten mins later we had his first ever wee in the toilet!! He had one accident and wore undies the whole day!! :-) So happy. Sent him to daycare with undies on (his choice) but he was not keen to use the loo's there so he may be in nappies at daycare until he builds his confidence a bit. Just goes to show only 1 week ago I had no vision on him TTing anytime soon and then hopefully with another week or two we won't be needing nappies anymore!
