Topic: Baby shower games Posted: 10 February 2011 at 8:37pm |
Hi all, I need to organise a baby shower and would you believe I've never been to one. I hear they play games at them, any suggestions?
I've heard of the melted chocolate bar in the nappy game - gross but popular.
Any others?

I did one for a friend recently, played 4 games, one that went down well was i got some jumpsuits and t-shirts and some fabric paint, put cardboard underneath and people got in groups to paint the baby a jumpsuit or t-shirt, everyone seemed to like it.

Guess how many beads in a bottle,
how many nappies in a nappy 'cake'
Use a piece of string and cut off how much you would need to wrap it around the pregnant ladies tummy

Get the washing in while holding the baby and talking on the phone (it's a one-by-one race).
That nappy one is disgusting but it is sooooooo funny!!
A new one for me is this: everyone has pen and paper. They write a problem situation on it and fold the paper over. Then they pass it to someone else who writes the solution (but they haven't read the problem). Then you all unfold and read them outloud. Apparently it's quite funny for bridal parties too. We had some really funny ones, like Q. "what do you do when your DH wants 'intimacy'" A. "put the baby to bed, go out of the house and scream"

I did a babyshower for one of the lovely ladies on here, and arranged 3 games.
The first I had 3 bottles of babyfood and steamed off the labels and everyone had to pick what flavours they were.
Then I had baby bottles with milk in them to see how fast they could drink it (very difficult!!)
And last I had a little container with safety pins in (was meant to be nappy pins but those are really expensive so just used the gold pins) and had to guess how many were in there.
Was good fun!! Well I thought so anyway Dino1 may agree!

my workmates threw me one before i left NZ, and my favourite game was one my mum did for it where she found out all about the celebrity babies and asked us questions about them i.e. name all angelina and brads kids and put them in age order (i was the only one who got that!) and asking us to give the names of babies just born. She also had a cardboard sheet with babies she had cut out from magazines and got us to guess their parents and their names. I was so sad when the game was finished but atleast i won
Someone else collected all our baby pictures and got everyone to guess who was who which was cool as well.
We also had a memory game where you looked at a tray of objects for 30 seconds then when they were taken away you had to write down as many as you could remember.

A favourite one at my baby shower that my sister threw was that you weren't allowed to say the word "baby"!!
You could use infant, little one, etc, just not baby -- it was so hard, especially as the shower got going.
Everyone got given a necklace with beads on a string when they came in, and if you said baby and someone noticed, you had to give one bead to the person who noticed. The winner was the person with the most beads at the end of the shower.

I banned all baby games from mine. And when i've organised others i've not had any if they haven't wanted them.
