Hi Kelzie Rose, I had my DD at North shore hosp almost 5 months ago(and have also been lurking in a few of your threads and am soooo happy to see your new ticker - not a creepy stalker or anything!) and I loved my hospital stay.
The actual facilities and midwives etc were fine, but for me it was more about having those 3 days and nights where nothing exists outside of you and your new little family - you don't worry about things like bills, meals, telemarketers, knocks at the door etc etc - I think it is a blessed time that I will cherish forever . I can't begin to understand the negative associations you have with hospitals, but I would suggest that you do the tour of the birthing and maternity suites (we did ours as part of the antenatal classes held by the hopsital, but I belive you can do the tour separately)- as hopefully you could then see that particular part of the hospital as a (largely) joyous, miraculous and life affirming place that I for one felt privileged to be part of
