Hi there

I wouldn't worry - I have the opposite thing - I am measuring 4 weeks ahead of where i am at. I think the measurements they go by are just a guideline/average. I think some women just measure a little differently. I am not having a particularly large baby, and you probably aren't having a really small one - we are just a bit different

Hey,

I measured bang on for dates for weeks and then suddenly I was about 2-4cm behind what MW thought I should be at. DP and I weren't big babies (I was 6lbs 11oz and he was 7lbs 5oz) anyway MW send me for a scan and Lily was fine - not a big baby but mw was worried she wouldn't even be 6lbs. She came out a very healthy baby and only 6lbs 13oz.

Do you know roughly what size baby you and your siblings were and like wise with your other half? Might give you a 'rough' indication on size.

If your MW is worried she will most likely send your for a scan to check everything.

I also saw the back up who thought I was going to have a HUGE baby and that I was just holding the baby in well being young and not a big lady! She wasn't concerned at all unlike my mw!

I was consistently about 2-3 weeks 'behind' in fundal measurement with DD, then when scanned at 37 weeks was told that I had a 'very big baby in there, and is there a chance you have gestational diabetes?' (no). DD was born at 39 weeks - 8lbs 1oz. Clearly fundal measurement and baby size weren't related in my case and it was just how I was carrying. I have quite a wide rib cage so I wonder if it gave her a little more room to hide, iykwim? Anyway, if the MW isn't worried then I wouldn't worry about it too much .

I was consistently behind until bout 35 weeks. It's completely normal so don't worry.

I was also consistently behind about 3-4 cm's and was a little worried but my MW wasn't very concerned and Lily was 7lb3oz so obviously doesn't mean too much.

With my first I measured pretty much bang on each week. With number 2 I measured smaller (by 2-3 weeks) yet she was 9lb 2oz (my biggest). And with number 3 I measured bigger (my mw stopped measuring in the end!) and yet he was my smallest at 8lb. So I do think it all depends on the way baby is positioned and/or how you carry.

All the best for your scan, I'm sure it will help to put your mind at rest.

Like Ceres I measured small, enough to concern my midwife, and had a couple of scans which said that I was carrying a very large baby. Then I had to do extra gestational diabetes tests to make sure all was good.

I was induced at 37 weeks and my boy was 7lb 6oz. A scan two days earlier had estimated he was 8lb 11oz so that was way out. So it really is all just an indication. I think I just carried more towards my back.

Yep I was like this too. Had a multitude of mw's measure me at 34 weeks when I was 38 weeks so I had a scan , a week later I had a 6lb 11oz baby, but then my dd was little & so was I & also my mum so it runs in our family.

I was ahead by a huge amount until i was 29 weeks then i started dropping behind, however DS was born 9.8lbs, so it must have just been my shape and how i carried.
