Topic: Hypnobirthing? Posted: 19 July 2011 at 6:32pm |
I have lots of questions about hypnobirthing. I have only just started reading about it and may purchase Maree Morgan's Hypnobirthing book. I'm not interested in doing the course as its far too expensive. I just wanted to know what other people think about it. Have you read the book? Did you use it in your labour/birth? Did it work? Did you take the course?

I haven't read the book or done a course but I have a CD of hers called Rainbow Relaxation. It's just a relaxation exercise and positive birth affirmations. I think it's really good and I plan to listen to it in labour. Where can you buy the book?

They do free information nights so worth having a closer look before you fork out the money. We went to one recently. Not for us although I'll use lots of their ideas and I can easily see it being helpful for a lot of people. Lots of relaxation and self empowerment stuff.
If you buy the book from her then do the course she takes the cost off it as you get the book and 2 cd's with the course. Apparently the book also has a cd with it but only if you buy it from her.

I would have loved to do a course, but none where we lkive either. I bought the book, never even listened to the CD, but practised the breathing, used the lists of positive affirmations during labour- also found extras online, and used the lists in the book to formulate a really thorough birth plan.
I had a hiddeous first birth, and a wonderful natural drug free birth with #2. We planned a homebirth but transferred to hospital as there was muconium in the waters- but DS was born an hr later in hopsital but still with me in control and everything went so well. Definatly recommend getting the book!

I got the book of Mighty Ape. Came with a CD. Reading it at the moment. Can't justify the $300 or so it costs for the course (on top of everything else like antenatal classes etc etc) So far so good, almost half way through, it opens your eyes up to the idea that there's no reason you can't deliver naturally and that it might not be as painful as everyone makes it out to be. I checked with my mum and she only had gas when she had me and my sister and she didn't really like it, so don't see why I can't plan to have minimal intevention if she was able to do it......
