    Posted: 22 June 2010 at 9:13pm
So I noticed the other day that the tip off DD's front tooth is chipped , she smacked her mouth a few times last week complete with blood. It's not bad, but it got me thinking we should really sort out dental care!

Who does dental care for toddlers?!?!? I don't even know where to start! We're in Ellerslie, if that helps with suggestions.

TIA

Plunket should refer you to a school dental nurse when your child nears 2. I think its usually close to where you live.

You can go to a private Dentist, but if you ring your local Plunket office they will be able to put you in touch with your local school dental clinic who normally do the preschooler dental appointments as well. We saw the dental nurse with Samantha at 1, 2 and she is due to go again next week at just over 3.

there is an ad on tv for teeth for children. I called today and they wont see DD until she is 2-2.5 but she said if anything happens they will. You go to the local school that has a dental nurse. the phone number is 0800 talk teeth.... give them a call and they should be able to tell you where the closest dental nurse is and they will then get you to call them to make an appointment

Plunket gave us the phone number, and we were seen yesterday! Just had a chat about oral health, how to brush, and then she had a quick look in DD's mouth to see all the teeth (and reassure me the chip is hardly noticeable!). Thanks for the advice.
