Topic: 2nd Molars Posted: 27 May 2010 at 9:48pm |
Hi,
I did a bit of a search but didn't really find what I was after.
At what age do the 2nd molars start to appear? JJ is grumps and waking lots at night (he never, ever does this), dribbling heaps, off his food and has a rashy mouth.
But I thought it was too early for the 2nd molars. Looking in his mouth is impossible (side effect of tube feeding and oral aversions), so I can't tell.
If it is molars - how long does it usually last for? I am exhausted with this pregnancy, a tough and busy time at work and then Mr Cranky Pants on top.

I think they are called 2yo molars. So they could be appearing now???
Just looking up a book, they come through around 24 months. My daughters first one came through at 26 months.
They could be moving in his mouth. Will he let you spray teethmed in his mouth? Or put bonjela on his toothbrush & see if you can get some back there??

It could be them, Jack had cut all of his teeth by 2yrs and unfortunately the 2yo molars are probably the worst.
Kel had some good suggestions, I also find that Ibuprofen works better than pamol

it could be the 2 year molars or there is a set of molars that appears before those. How many teeth does he have now?
I also find ibuprofen works better than pamol (or if it is really bad both of them 1 hr apart).
Everyone says the 2 year molars are the worst...but I didn't even realise when Ella got hers, we just went to the denist earlier in the year and she commented Ella had her full set of teeth, so they just have just poped up sometime when I thought she was being a bit grumpy.

Emily's bottom 2nd molars both cut thru at the same time after horrible months of teething. She had just turned 2 when they finally showed. I was pregnant too when she was teething and can understand how tiring it is, but I'm sorry to say that it might be a few months of Mr Cranky Pants for you before those nasty teeth make their appearance. We ended up with sleepless nights too and that's from a girl who's usually a good sleeper! I'm still waiting for her final two to show (top 2nd molars) so it's not over yet!
I think my plunket book says between 2-3 years to expect their 2nd molars to appear. But yeah it's the months beforehand when the teeth are moving and pushing their way down before they cut which is the horrible part.

My wee girl has been a fast teether - she's just waiting on the 2 yr molars to complete the set. I'm presuming that because she's got the other teeth ahead of time then these 2 yr old molars might come early?
