Ava has got her first party invite and I have no idea what she should wear! The birthday boy will be 2 and it is at their house.

I was going to use the same dress she wore on her 1st birthday - a beautiful pink and white party dress, but my sister suggested it may be too dressy and it might get stained.

How dressy is too dressy??

I only have boys so can't really comment but i always dress them up for parties. They have their good flash shirt on and nice jeans or shorts. I love seeing the wee girls turn up in their party dresses though!

Edited to add: I just soak my boys shirts when they get home and haven't had any stain. Most of #1 shirts are pale blue too so have potential to stain.

Dress her however you want!

I always dress Isla up for partys! Its no good having nice clothes/dresses if you cant even wear them to partys! They grow out of them so quickly anayway!

When else do they get a chance to dress up, go for it!! I think its cool to teach the kids about special occassions and putting on something nice and that it is kinda a treat! Just be prepared that sometimes they do get dirty but nine times out of ten a wash and some stain remover does the trick.

I always dress my little one up for parties too, its all part of the fun

I find that an apron-type bib does the trick during cake eating etc, keeps the pretty dresses clean.

Ours looks like this, bought from Pumpkin Patch for $12.
Scuse the terrible lighting

DD always had 1-2 new dresses each year for parties and it was fun to dress her up in them. DS is a bit easier as he wears his cutest outfit that gets absolutely trashed and ends up in a bucket of nappy san for a day or two afterwards to get the grime out.
