Am pregnant with number 2 and the only thing i am realy worried about this time around is having another postpartum haemorrhage, i was induced last time and was in active labour for 11 hours only pushed for about 10 min to give birth to my beautiful son, had the injection to deliver the placenta and after that started to loose blood (about 700mls) mw had to give me bimanual compression to help stop the bleeding and get my uterus to start contracting back down... dr was also called in but when he arrived was not needed and w had everything under control so glad i had an experenced mw.
so far this pregnancy has gone the same as the last with minimal morning sickness altho a bit more tired as have a 3yr old to run around after.
has anyone had a PPH with 1st labour and gone on not to have one with the second or have one with the second..

Yep I had a PPH (due to fully retained placenta) with number 1. I lost approx 1ltr of blood. My labour (spontaneous) and birth with him were otherwise fine.

I've since had 2 more babies with no PPH or issues with the placenta. For me it was about where the placenta was positioned (it was stuck in a little hollow at the top of my uterus).

All the best for this pregnancy, labour and birth

I had a PPH aft er my 3rd child, lost about same amount of blood as you with yours (so scary and painful huh!!) so going into my 4th birth i was freaking out to say the least! However my mw was awesome and i was very weary after the birth and weent to the loo A LOT as keeping the bladder empty helps prevent a PPH as well. Just talk to your mw about your concerns and ask what measures will be put in place to prevent it happening again.
My babies:

R (9),G (7), J (5)

Me Yucky PPH - lost 1000ml +, had blood transfusions etc. It was a high intervention birth - induced at42 weeks, 4 day induction, synto up really high, bub not decending, epi, ventouse .... My MW thinks my uterus was worked too hard with 12 hours of high high synto so couldn't contract.

#2 - induction at 42 weeks but one hour of synto (at 3unit/min as opposed to 112 for 12 hours with #1!) and a MW who knew I was really worried about PPH. I had delayed cord clamping then ecbolic as a preventative. No episiotomy, minimal tearing, completely normal blood loss.

Completing different experience and man, life was so much easier without the PPH. Talk to your MW about your concerns, make sure she's proactive about managing the risks (so basically what M4b said)

I had a PPH when i had #1. I lost 2 litres but surprisingly managed to avoid a transfusion. Mostly due to my haemoglobin levels being ok afterwards. I was induced too and ended up with an epidural, pushed for nearly 2 hours and ended up with the ventouse. I had tearing with him too. So wasn't a very nice labour and birth.

I was induced with #2 as well but it went much better and i didn't have a PPH with her. Just a shame i had problems with bleeding for 10 weeks after she was born!
