Ive just gone 36 weeks with my second bub. Have been getting braxton hicks since early in the second trimester and they have never bothered me too much - occasional soreness but nothing too bad.

The last week they have really kicked it up a notch and Thursday night got really bad - lots of pain through my back and groin, more intense and period pain that built up like contractions as opposed to mild cramping that I would normally get with BH. That night they eventually eased enough for me to sleep with panadol.
Friday morning they were back again as soon as I got up, not as bad as the night before but definitely worse than normal, building up and easing again, and very frequent (as in, every few minutes).

They did manage to ease off but I am still getting them very frequently, not too painful most of the time but occasionally (like this morning) really taking it out of me.

Anyone had this happen and what was the result?
As much as I really would like baby to hold on a bit longer, not sure how well I will cope with the increasing strength of these for another 4-6 weeks!

No show or waters of any kind and I dont think Im in labour but since I never went into labour naturally with DD (was induced at 40 weeks due to GD), I sort of dont know what to look for and the pains on Thursday night were very much like the pain I was getting early on in my induction.

Anyway, thoughts?

ETA Its the frequency that Im getting them that worries me a bit (and worries my mum and DH a lot haha) as they seem to be all day long....

Hey KerryLea, sounds like it could be pre-labour but that could go on for weeks before baby makes their appearance. (sorry)

But for me though, i was only ever in pre-labour for a couple of days (at most) before i gave birth to my 3rd and 4th babies (both boys). My prelabour it was like getting BH but they were a bit stronger and at the same time i got a sore back, they were quite irregular though.

Have you told your midwife? maybe go along for a check up?

As much as i want to say hope baby comes soon so you can start feeling better, but baby is 36 wks so i hope things calm down for you and baby stays in a wee bit longer.

Good luck with everything either way :)

I havent called her yet as Im seeing her Monday anyway and didnt feel like they were bad enough to warrant a call yet IYKWIM (shes pretty relaxed and will likely just tell me to take it easy and keep and eye on things)

I really want baby to stay in until January - too much to do still! I think my mum has got me worried something is happening now when I keep telling myself that it way too soon

Stranger things have happened but I hope it settles down a bit

I have very very bad BH thru all my pregnancies, delivered the girls at 36 & 37wks and my son was the worst BH and had nights of swaying on all fours in horrendous labour like pains aruond the 35wk mark the OB put me on meds as he was scanning at 5lb they wanted me to keep him in a bit longer. It was a liquid medication to calm the uterus down (sorry cant remember what it was called) anyway the sideeffects were not that great (heart palpatations/woozy feeling) so I was ment to take them for 2wks but only took them for 1wk but ended up having him at 40wk by elective c/s.

Anyway not sure that is of help to you, but letting you know you are not alone. I reckno the B/.H were up there with the pain of around 6-7cm dialated. OUCH!
I was in so much pain I was kinda in & out of conciousnous to even think about ringing the MW, kinda freaked me out when I woke up in the morning.

Put it this way I was SOOO pleased to have baby out and having him to cuddle rather than al them B.H

I would have about 50-80 B/.H a day on an average, they started with all my pregnancies very early on like 7-9wks
