Topic: When did you test to get your BFP? Posted: 19 October 2011 at 11:53am |
Hi ladies,
I'm interested in when you tested (how many DPO) and what brand you used for your BFP, and whether you'd had BFNs before in the same cycle. I understand the science, just curious about the real life!

With DD i was somewhere like 2 months along already and had a bfp on a first response dipstick test. With DS i was about 11 dpo and got a faint bfp on one of those warehouse ones (quickstick maybe) and with this one im guessing i was around 26 dpo and got a strong positive on a first response early response midstream test.

Not sure about DPO as I've never monitored my cycles closely enough, but usually around (or just before) the 4 week mark I start getting really faint positives. I used Clear Blue for my first 3 and First Response for number 4.

I had faint positives around week 3 both times - but knew i was PG by how exhausted and seedy i was feeling so it was just a formality. Just used 1st response supermarket cheapos.

I only did one test with both of my pregnancies and just used a Clear Blue test. With #1 i tested the day after AF was due. I did the test at night and got a strong positive. With #2 i tested the day AF was due. I did the test early in the morning coz i couldn't wait any longer and got a pretty strong positive. lol.
Not sure on DPO as i never really took notice of stuff like that but i usually have regular 28 day cycles.

8dpo on a first response. it was really faint though. By 10dpo it was quite a strong line.

DD1 - I was 6 weeks..the line was very dark
DS-I was very early only about 8dpo ...First Response
DD2-bout the same 8dpo First response
For the last two I actually thought I was further along but scans proved otherwise,as did their eventual dates of birth

First time - I was 12 DPO and got a very strong positive on a First Response in the evening (my luteal length was only ever 13das though).
Second time - I got an average positive on a deal extreme cheapie, after a scan to figure out dates, it would have only been around 9DPO. I tested in the afternoon

11 days after AF was due. I tested 12 DPO, negative, day after AF due, negative, three days after AF due negative, then after waiting around what seemed like forever (and thinking my cycle had gone haywire) decided I should test again and got a BFP.
I used the 3 in a pack cheap ones from the supermarket.

The first time I have absolutely no idea, all I knew was my period came around about the beginning of the month (stupid nasty thing that it is!) and that it hadn't turned up for a rather long time and I had tender breasts....
2nd time round at 14dpo I got a faint line right at the end of the time limit, on the quickresponse tests from the pharmacy.

#1 7wks with a first response (took so long coz I didnt know I was pregnant) - did it at lunchtime
#2 8DPO with a first response - FMU
#3 9DPO I think and it was a freebie from the family planning place - did it at lunchtime
ETA I got a BFN with DS1 when they tested me early on as part of something else I was being checked for but no BFNs for #2 or #3.

No idea with #1 I just knew it had been a few weeks since BIL (at the time) wedding when I'd had what I thought was a years worth of AF rolled into one (turns out possible mc after Depo wearing off) and up came the second line very fast... cheap dipstick from supermarket. According to scan I was not quite 4 weeks though
#2 I was 13DPO and used an internet cheapie... would have tested earlier only I thought there was no chance after being told 2 cycles earlier that we'd need IVF, so my temp chart had a few gaps during the DPO phase.
#3 I was 7DPO when I started testing (TheKelly will remember that day lol, I KNEW I was preg after using half a roll of loo paper while there on one morning!) and started getting a faint line on 9DPO with internet cheapy, got a stronger, definite line on first response dipstick test mid-day 10DPO
OT but OMG KiwiAtHeart, congrats!! Judging by the ticker, you're another one whos going to have a small age gap after being told you'll need help to have babies with hubby! (and if my maths is right, you'll have almost exactly the same age gap I ended up with!)
