My pharmacist said that it's not recommended to use calamine lotion for chickenpox anymore because it can cause scarring. No idea if that's true or not...

Anyway we got some pinetarsol bath stuff which helped, and we also got some lorapaed (sp?) which is a non-drowsy antihistamine that you can buy over the counter at pharmacies, which is meant to help with the itch, etc. That really seemed to take the edge off.

In looking on the internet i found adding a cup of baking soda to the bath is supposed to help with the itch too so will try that.

Also found aleo vera gel can help so off to buy a bottle.!

Hey Sera
Sorry to hear that Luke had chicken pox! I might be too late now but when i had it a few years ago the chemist lady said to use aloe vera cooling gel instead of calamine which dries the scabs out and can scar.

oh my goodness your 28 weeks already! CONGRATULATIONS on another boy thats great news!

I used Nathuropharm Hypercal cream in conjunction with Pinetarsol in the bath. Worked a treat on really bad CP.
