My son just truned two. He is sleeping in the nusrery, which is a small room. We decided to move him into the spare room whcih is almost twice the size. We decorated it in a Thomas Tank Engine theme complete with a Thomas bed & bedding. He loves the room & loves playing in there, & he loves the bed...for jumping on & playing on, but he refuses to lie down on it & sleep on it. We don't know what to do. He just won't sleep in it & so every night we give up after a bit & take him back to the cot in the nursery (which is now filled with junk). I have no idea how to get him to sleep in his new room & new big boy bed. Any tips?
Maybe what you want to do is make his room just a sleeping place. So you don't play in it at all and then only use it for bed time.
Also you could take down you cot that way he knows he has no choice but to sleep in his big boy bed.
I haven't done this transition with my own son yet but I've read stuff so hope that helps
How about moving the cot into his room and then letting him choose which bed he uses each sleep. Is there a need to get him out of the cot? If not, let him stay in there.....we have just gone to a big boys bed and have lost days sleeps (until my mother came to visit and she can make him do it!). Tom requested the big bed.

I suggested to DH that we move the cot to his new room & let him sleep in it in there for a few nights to get used to it but DH refuses because we'll have to dismantle the cot to move it & he says it's too big a job.... Men! I may just have to close the door to the nursery & say the cot is gone?

It doesnt take long .. even I can do it in 10 minutes
