Hi
Just found out 4 weeks gone today, after 18 months of trying!! So v excited. So searching the net for what to do and what not to do.

Is it safe to continue with spin classes or should I be doing less intense exercise?

Congratulations.
The general consensus is that you can do exercise up to your usual level unless you are medically told not to. So if you regularly do spin classes then it should be fine to continue.

FrankieP, my doctor told me if you were excercising before you were preg it's fine to continue. Just remember to have lots of fluids. I'm currently 6 months, still doing spin and playing netball.

Congrats FrankieP, our OB has said pretty much the same as above but pointed out it is really important to try and keep your core temp down as best as possible as bub is very temperamental so drinking cold water throughout is essential to keep this lowered and try not to get your heart rate too high, so maybe back off the intensity a little & be careful when you are going up & down in the saddle - best option would be to quietly talk to the instructor before class and ask him for some alternatives, any good instructor will have options and blend these seamlessly into class without anyone knowing the wiser.

His biggest concern wsa sports invovling jolting or fast movements/changes not so much for bub but actually because we are far more prone to injury as ligaments etc loosen so be careful of fast changes on your knees and ankles.

Best options recommended were swimming, walking, cross trainer.

Good Luck
