this is my first pregancy and Im currently 30w+6d

I was reffered to an OB and went and saw them on Monday where they did a scan and then informed me that she is IUGR. She has been measuring small since about 26 weeks. But still growing but slowly.

They also sent me for bloods to check up for any infections such as rubella, toxoplasmosis or cytomegalovirus whilst in the womb. Those results should come back in the next day or two (FX)

Im on growth scans every two weeks now and weekly OB appts.

I still feel lots of movements, I dont have high blood pressure. I eat well. When I was born I was 7lbs13oz. My placenta is anterior...and they havent mentioned that there is anything wrong with the placenta. I have had no bleeding either. And everything else in my pregnancy has been fine and normal

So Im really confused and worried as to why this is happening

What they have told me is the blood flow through the umbilical cord is high which means she is not getting the nutrients she needs. Its in the 95th centile and they tell me 100 is abnormal

They have told me that if she stops growing or her growth slows right down then they will look at inducing. I did ask about a C-Section and they said they would try to induce first...but I guess if baby is in destress then they will go for the Csec.

Im trying not to worry or stress out about it but its kinda hard not to sometimes. They have also advised that I go on restricted hours at work to take off some of the stress.

I hope that my bubs does stay inside and cooks a little longer

Im off to my MW this afternoon so hopefully she will shed some more light on whats happening

What they'll be looking for in the 2 weekly grow scans is that she's growing the required amount for 2 weeks. If she isn't then it is better to have them on the outside to finish their growing.

Not sure what they mean about the blood flow, I always thought it would have been low?

I had suspected IUGR babies at 6lb 8oz, 6lb 11oz & 7lb 3oz, with the last one being the one they worried about the most! Our family has a history of having small babies, it might trend that we all have IUGR babies, and a downfall is tha we're tall so our babies are expected to be bigger.

Definitely take some time off if you can and sit down & put your feet up. How are your fluid levels?

Yeah on fortnightly growth scans and on the off weeks dopler scans of the blood flow.
But yeah its a high blowflow in the 95th centile (100 is abnormal and 50 is normal).
Fluid levels are all good. Good amount of fluid around her.
Like I said everything has been all normal or near perfect so far all thats not happening is that shes not getting the nutrients she needs through the umbilicord so they're all a bit confused...they are waiting on the blood tests to come back so that might come back with something but who knows.

FX she stays in for a little bit longer and keeps growing. Yesterday I had a MW appt and the fundal height was at 28.5 and thats an improvement from last time so Im happy...will see what happens with the growth scan and OB appt on monday

That's a good fundal height for where you are. Cross fingers that your growth scans come back with good growth! Would your mw go with you to your appointment? I had mine with me & she was great, she advocated for me & made sure I wasn't railroaded.

Try to relax & enjoy your pregnancy, I know it's hard when you're living from appointment to appointment. I found that I was just counting down days til my next appointment so got to 38 weeks & thought WTF I'm not prepared for a baby to come!
