Hello mums, I am 21wks pregnant and a first time mum-to-be. I bought a cot recently but I am not sure what cot bedding I will need for my baby-to-come in August. Could anyone give me some suggestions please? Thanks.

Are you putting bubs straight in the cot or a bassinet first? It would be worth looking at swaddles for the newborn stage and then once he/she is bigger for the cot I just would get a wool underlay, a fitted bottom sheet and sleeping bags. So much easier and saves wriggly babies from getting cold.

Im in Hamilton and I have a wool underlay, mattress protector, fitted sheet and then a "Love to Swaddle Up" wrap for baby. I'll also have a merino blanket overtop. Once baby is old enough to stop swaddling I'll be buying a merino sleeping bag for her and add layers underneath as required.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the Ministry of Health recommends that a room that a newborn sleeps in shouldn't drop below 18 deg C so the air they are breathing isn't too cold. If the room is warm enough you don't need heaps of blankets.
