Topic: What would you do? MIL's comment Posted: 18 October 2013 at 11:10am |
Hi people just wondered what ur thoughts are or what you would do?
Recently my husband posted a pic of our 12 week scan to FB and his mothers comment was it looks like a rat!
I absolutely lost it and have said I want nothing to do with her & she's not welcome in our home. Also this isn't the first time she's made rude/offensive comments.
This is a much wanted baby after going through IVF and we are also high risk, I just don't want that sort of thing in my life.
Would u be the same?

Hi there. I have a mother in law who doesn't think first and can say and do things that I get so pissed off with and I am not one who will bite my tounge and I will just tell her straight out . I understand your upset and hurt by the comment it was a stupid thing to say. I would calm down abit and then talk to her and tell her exactly how you feel . I would react too . But see what she has to say about it if she confronts you back when you talk to her about it, you will know where you stand then and can make your decision then.

Thanks for your thoughts & advice, I thought she would have reached out to her son to apologize but she just kept going with her online inappropriate remarks. She was defiantly not sorry & was horrible to see how much it hurt my hubby.
I'm afraid if I reach out I won't b able to control myself lol

Hi, What a nice comment...NOT! Try not to worry too much, stress won't help you or your baby. Just ignore her if you can. My MIL is just as bad! I am 17 weeks pregnant, I have blood clotting issues so been told by my Dr to take aspirin until the baby is born and then Clexane injections for 6 weeks. So when DF told her this she said "oh well, you two wanted a baby so now you will have to get over it". DF was speechless.....

Wow, I struggle to understand how people can say things like that. Hope everything goes smoothly for u & ur lil one 😊 Glad I'm not the only one with MIL issues lol
I'm trying not to stress because she's not worth it, I just don't think I could be in the same room with her lol

Same here, I don't want to see her face. I keep laughing thinking about the tv program "s@#t my dad says", this is more like "s@#t my MIL says" lol

I don't know. She is moving to another town so I won't get to see her anyway. What about you? When is your baby due? Mine is due end of March!

Yea my inlaws live up in Auckland so I only had to see them once or twice a year 😊 It really was the last straw so I don't want anything to do with her.
I'm due 20th of April but our baby has gastroschisis so will probably have bubs @ about 36 weeks so march & right by my bday 😄
Are u going to find out the sex of baby?

It's when bubs bowels are on the outside of his/her tummy so usually the come early so will most likely have baby in Wellington instead of palmy (where we are) stay in neonates depends on how well the baby does, they try to operate as soon as they are born, best case we'll be looking @ 4 weeks in hospital.
Yay for finding out we are 2, I'm meeting a specialist on Tuesday & having another scan so fingers crossed we can find out then 😊
I joined the April due thread but they all talk on a FB page which I wasn't 2 keen on. Is there much happening in your thread?

Oh, I am sorry to hear that. It sounds like you and bubs are being well looked after. Everything is going to be fine!
A lot of the ladies that joined the thread are now talking on FB, some of us were not keen so we kept the thread going. They are all very nice girls, very supportive! Will send you the password now.
