Just wondering if anyone can either provide feedback about Compass antenatal or recommend other antenatal classes? My midwife recommended Compass but I'd be interested to get any feedback. She cautioned us to avoid the pay-for antenatal classes, but I suspect thats just because there's no added benefit by going to a pay-for?

Thanks heaps

Haven't heard of Compas, but we did ours through Parents Centre (Wgtn North) and would totally recommend them. You do have to pay but you get a 1yr membership to Parents Centre - they have equipment you can hire, run courses and events and send out magazines. You get quite a few freebies at classes and they are very proactive at setting up a coffee group for you (ours is still going over 2 yrs later). They also run Baby & You newborn classes once your baby arrives which were really helpful. It's quite good going to classes in your area/suburb too as you meet other local mums who live nearby, makes it much easier to organise walks or meet up for a coffee.

Thanks Mrs Moth. We live right in the city so hoping to find something close to hear. My boss recommended WSPC, so we might look into that.

Thanks

We're doing the Parents Centre South classes and they are really good. The same set up as Parents Centre North but in Island Bay - so not really central, sorry. They are really good at trying to build bonds in the group too so you have a support network.

I haven't heard of Compass so can't help with that specifically. I know there are free ones run by the hospital but I've heard mixed things about those. A couple of people I know said they were good for content but not for meeting people. One didn't care the other was quite upset about it. There was only 2 other couples in their class and they weren't interested in getting to know people as they had friends with small babies. I guess it depends what you're looking for.

Thanks laura, thats really helpful. I guess I am looking for building the support network as none of my friends are having babies at the same time. I've made a few friends through ohbaby so that will also be good, but I'll take that under consideration. Thanks.
