Hi there,

As this is my first pregnancy, I don't really know what to wear or where to even look! All I know is, I'm getting very depressed as I can't find anything that fits anymore

Do you know where I can go shopping for work clothes? (In Auckland please) thanks!!!
1st baby!

Hi Spicy Chick! Congrats on your pregnancy!

I was working in a fairly corporate environment whilst I was preggo, but I didnt want to spend a heap on clothes. I managed to buy a few dresses / tunic style tops from the warehouse and used to wear them over maternity pants. KMart also have a good basic range of maternity clothes that can be dressed up or down. I lived in my basic black skirt that I bought from there. There are stores like Egg in Newmarket / Silverdale but its pretty expensive. I also got some nice work things from the Pumpkin Patch outlet store up in Westgate.

I am not sure where you are located, but hopefully you can find something that is suitable for work!

Hi ya, Not sure what sort of work wardrobe you need but there are a few options.
Pumpkin patch and JK are a good place to start.Dressmart is good. My midewife told me about a place on the shore that does preloved maternity wear, I havent been so not sure what they life, they are called Blooming Beautiful. I have got a few things from Kmart of all places, skirts with wide elastic bands and tops that are lose fitting are in fashion at mo so I havent found it too hard at the moment. Oh, try trademe too!

Really depends how much you want to spend! I got by with one nice pair of black pants from Egg, who have some lovely stuff (their main shop is in Newmarket, but they have an outlet store in the Fox outlet centre in Northcote), and the rest of my maternity work clothes I got on sale at Pumpkin Patch and JK - definitely worth a look (both have shops in Dressmart if you're on a budget). The great thing is everywhere has a sale on at the moment!

Kmart used to have a really good pair of black dress pants that were super comfy which I lived in at work. And the good thing is they didn't cost a fortune.

I would definately try Trademe too - you'll probably find some pre-loved stuff in excellent condition as it's not been worn very long. Will also save you spending a fortune on a maternity wardrobe.

I found Egg really expensive, and am currently living in baby doll tops from chain stores, and have got some dressy ones from Max. They also have some stretchy wrap dresses which are great. Also, second KMart for skirts and black dress pants.
Good luck!

I got by with two pairs of black pants from Patch and two pairs of jeans from Patch/JK maternity for casual Fridays and weekends, all bought on sale. For tops I bought a few maternity tops while overseas then had a couple of long, loose fitting tops I think from Farmers and KK? (clothes shop for bigger ladies). Only one top is obviously a maternity top, the rest I can still wear.

A lot depends on the job you do, I had to dress fairly formally so really had to buy stuff. And I was lucky that the fashion at the time suited pregnant women so there was loads of stuff I could wear from regular shops.

Pearls - size 8 or 10 pre preggers (depending on the cut of the clothes). That's one good question actually. How do I know what size to buy for if I were to buy from TM? I'm confused!

And thanks to all your suggestion, DH has agreed to take me to all the shops you ladies mentioned this Sat yay!!!

I have found dresses and tunics over pants / tights is the absolute way to go and the most comfortable. Try and get 1-2 trousers or skirts then the tops are the easy part as you can often get away with buying something a little larger in size and floaty.

Jeans West for Jeans or 3/4 pants or Jean Shorts are a must and really reasonably priced.

The Warehouse for some simple black pants and tights were also fabulous and again defintely within the budget.

Also talk to your employer about what will be acceptable as you get bigger. I work in a corporate environment but since about 25ish weeks have started to dress in more casual attire inc sandals / jandals and they are fine with that - and if I know I have meetings with customers etc then I will dress up for that day.

Unfortunately you are going to get uncomfortable so any little thing you can do to feel a bit better is worth it.

I personally have not spent much on clothes and could not justify the expense of Egg / Pumplin Patch etc. Also anything you find with a flexi / stretchy waistband will generally work and you will find skirts etc in PostiPlus / Ezibuy etc if you look.
