Topic: Food Ideas Posted: 10 December 2013 at 9:07pm |
Hi Everyone, I have recently found out I am pregnant, but I work full time away from home and am really stuck on what to have for my lunches. I almost always pack my own lunch and our budget cant handle me buying it too often so I am looking for some great ideas to prevent me from having salad dressings, or any form of reheated meat or rice or anything else I am not meant to have. Your help is much appreciated

Last pregnancy I took fresh bread and a soup most days? I can't remember what else but if I remember I'll let you know. I'm in the same boat! I think I used to also take cheese and onion toasted sandwiches that I made there (using Edam cheese kept in my fridge at work)

I've been bringing lunch since I found out too, as I find buying too expensive (and my options are so limited anyway with the restrictions!). I've been doing cheese toasties, crisp bread with cream cheese, yoghurts and sometimes I bake pizza buns (can be made without meat), or bring soups. Just a bit more effort than before :)

Toasties! All sorts of toasties haha And fruit (if grapes/strawberries etc. make sure you wash yourself) and veges, I did carrot sticks and creamcheese. Home made salads prepared myself, no dressings - squeeze of lemon or orange just before eating. Yoghurts, crackers with cheese and vegemite/marmite. Erm, that's about it I think?

I make big jars of green smoothie made with spinach, apple, pear, bee pollen, chia seeds, unflavoured protein powder and water. Canned salmon (higher on the food chain than tuna which may have high mercury levels, sardines are a good option too) I take soup and bread some days and I boil eggs (just make sure they are fully cooked) I love green apples with peanut butter on them (avoid this if you or DH have pent allergy) you could do almond butter or something similar. Gluten free pasta and sauce. salads in summer with apple cider vinegar as dressing. Those are a few options....

During pregnancy it is better to have a balanced diet that is rich in vitamins and nutrients. It helps you both to keep you healthy and energized during a demanding time for your body and it also help your baby form vital organs and brain power.
