Topic: basic maternity clothes Posted: 11 August 2012 at 7:31pm |
IF I get UTD, I was thinking of getting a couple of basics for maternity clothing.
I thought a couple of long singlets (maybe Glassons?), some JeansWest jeans and longline cardigans?
What are your must haves?

Hey :-) long singlets are the best! Especially with belly band expanders with jeans!
Last pregnancy I lived in tights and tunics, comfy and reasonably presentable. I also spent way too much at Egg maternity! TTC at the moment, and thinking this time I'll try andl get away with more non-maternity clothes that can work around prego tummy!
Do you not have maternity clothes from being pregnant with your daughter? :-)

thanks smw85, yeah I do still have my pgy clothes, but I was pgy over winter with DD, if we get UTD in the next couple of months it will be over summer. Upside of getting PGy over winter is being able to hide your cankles!

I definatly wouldnt be buying jeans or cardi's for a summer pregnancy, but I guess it depends where u live! DS was due in Jan and the last month was sooo hot I was often only wearning a bikini at home, lol. Last summer was not the best at all,...and now that Im (hopefully) gonna be pregnant right through summer, I bet its gonna be a heatwave! I prefer summer and find it easier to get maternity clothes for summer than winter.

Definitely long singlets - I got two for $20 at jayjays when I was 2months preg and they still fit at 8 months. Kmart has them pretty cheap too. Maternity pants, with a nice belly expander, and tunics, are defintely must haves!
And a nice pair of comfy trackpants and pj pants. :)

I wore Cotton on singlets, they're a good length so fit over the belly for longer. I also got some 3/4 length yoga style pants.

I have this dilema. due early Feb. I think I am going to buy one pair of mat jeans or pants (ones that I really like) just so I am comfy for the next couple of months of the chilly winter, then just live in dresses and togs. We live on a farm and have a huge water hole in our river 20mts walk from our front door. I intend to spend a lot of time in there this summer ( I spend a lot of time in it every summer, and its private which is nice!!).
Maybee some mat leggings would be good to wear under dresses while its still chilly, at the mo I am still wearing my normal jeans, but I dont know how long that will last!! I love my jeans, live in them!! And when I am lounging at home, I have stolen/borrowed my hubbys Swazi trackpants. Great to go out and feed the animals in, not so stylish looking tho, in dark green tapered leg!!!

My lil guy was born end of Jan. I mostly wore long singlets with preggie shorts, and tunics with leggings. I just wore regular leggings and rolledthe elastic band down to fit under my bump. The tunics I wore crossed over the bust, so I can wear them to bf now.

What better way to embrace summer but to add a little splash of vibrant color to your Summer Maternity wardrobe! Being pregnant does not mean you have to sacrifice your style; freshen up that baby bump with colorful skinny jeans and I promise a couple of Hott Mama new looks will be born this summer! Trust me, color is a huge trend this year namely turquoise tangerine, coral ( my all time favorite), mint green, and light blue. However, the biggest color trend in popping colorful skinny jeans. here everywhere are should be in your maternity wardrobe! If you've been hesitant on the bold plunge check out Motherhood Closet - Maternity Consignment where you can pick up a pair of designer color popping maternity skinny jeans for under $30!

Hi all im Liz and have just found out I am pregnant by taking 2 home pregnancy test (one yesterday morning and one this morning)
This is my first pregnancy... I am so excited and sooo happy, although a little worried as I have like no symptoms, besides slightly sore boobs on and off and waking up in the night sweating! (which is apparently a symtom?)
Is this normal, the midwife on the phone said im 5 weeks 3 days,
I am due 7 or 8 April not 100% yet

I found these wrap tops perfect for my growing bump during my two pregnancies: http://www.smallchap.co.nz/maternity-breastfeeding-tops-jojo-maman-bebe-wrap-maternity-black-p-196.htmlThey are also great for breastfeeding once you've had the baby, and cover that post-pregnancy bump

That wrap top is excellent. I was just thinking tights and tunic type tops. You can get some pretty good maternity jeans out there too.
