Anyone else's toddler done this? Ella started months ago, before she knew I was pregnant, so it won't be to do with having a little bro on the way. Wanting to be wrapped in a blankie and playing with the baby playgym she's re-discovered are all fine, but she also insists on riding in the baby-seat of the supermarket trolley's, and if she can't, she'll unbuckle herself and lie across the toddler seat, telling me all the way that she's 'being a bubby'. It's not even comfy! She goes spare if she sees the baby capsule and can't sit in it, so that's going to be interesting after baby arrives - for now I'm keeping it hidden. Oh, and all her baby clothes I was sorting and donating, she keeps pulling them out and trying to wear them. I guess it didn't worry me at all 'cause I figured it was a passing phase but the next baby is only 3 months away and I don't see it passing at all - this is not going to help with the whole jealousy thing!

Did other toddlers do this? (she's 2 now, but started many months ago). Every time she tells me she wants to be a baby, I talk about how she's a 'super-cool toddler' now, and we talk about the fun things toddlers can do, and she'll say "no toddler, mummy, I be a baby". I've been listing her friends and saying how fun it is that they're such cool toddlers, but there's no convincing her, even though let's face it, she is a far happier toddler than she was a baby!

Don't have that problem but have you thought about getting her a 'baby' so she can be the 'mummy'? Some come with bottles & nappies and all sorts. Could be a good one to put on the Christmas list.

Isal totally loves babies- she always points to the baby seats in the trolleys and I say "yes those are for babies' but thats as far as that goes. She loves real babies, and loves to play with thier capsules. She doenst wanna be a baby, I dont think,....lol,..not gonna ask her just encase! She plays babies all the time, loves her toy buggy, bath etc etc.

Could it be because there are babies at coffee group now???

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I'd have thought that too, but this started before the babies did! It doesn't worry me, 'cause it's not worrying behaviour, it just really puzzles me so much. And I'm hoping that she's got her head around being a 'big girl' before baby arrives here, though I'm expecting a bit of regression then anyway. I might get her a doll cot for her baby doll, who she adores. She 'mothers' her toys when she's playing with them (yesterday she even wrapped DH's manky giant jandel in a wrap and tucked it into bed for a nap! ), but just wants to be a baby with us. I'll keep waiting it out and talking about being a 'super-cool toddler', etc.

My niece did that too.  She even refused to wear knickers and went back into nappies for awhile.  It was months after her little bro was born so I don't think it had anything to do with having a new baby in the house.  I think my sister just ran with it until she passed through the phase.

We didn't have any regression with the gremlins when lil miss arrived, but they do enjoy playing with the baby stuff. Today I had to drag Sienna out of Chiara's hammock, and if I leave the capsule lying about they either climb in it themselves or strap Peter and Manky Bunny in it. And they loooove changing Peter and Manky Bunny's nappies, to the point where Renata said she doesn't care when the gremlins get TTed, she just wants Peter TTed coz he leaves his nappies lying around the house!

That's so funny, Emma!
Ah, I'm over the baby game now that a certain 2-year-old climbed up and found the capsule, sent it flying to the ground, then broke the canopy playing with it, and when I put it away, had the BIGGEST tantrum of her life so far. I'm not putting up with that every time I try to get the kids in or out of the car - she can play with baby toys, that's fine but no more blimmin baby seats in the supermarket trollys and certainly no more rocking in the capsule.

Does she want to hang out with my girls? Kryssi wants to do everything that the "big girls" do LOL and her latest games are "making dinner" (tea set) and "going to work" (with a handbag and doing all the farewells and alas, returning in about 5 seconds)
