Hi everyone

I am 29 weeks and have just been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes. I was a bit shocked as i'm not overweight, haven't gained a lot of weight while pregnant, exercise regularly, eat well etc etc...turns out I just have a high insulin resistance.

I'm waiting for a call from the diabetes team at the hospital (assume Waitakere Hospital, Auckland). Once I have an appointment with them i'll be checking my blood glucose 4 times a day etc and hopefully they'll give me some idea about diet and recipes other than the obvious.

I'm wondering if there's anyone else in the Waitakere/Auckland area with GD who might be able to tell me what the story is with inductions? Do you automatically get induced at 38 weeks if you have GD? Because i'm now technically a "high risk" pregnancy does that mean I will have to birth at Auckland Hospital or North Shore as opposed to Waitakere?

Any info would be appreciated.

Cheers
